Screw this game. We wanted the reveal version 2021 Act 2, not this boring slog fest without loot. Imagine you make an ARPG without loot and you have to buy your gear from the vendor or gamble for it....

Game's the biggest joke in the history of ARPG's.
i don't want to play a game with so MUCH loot that nothing i drop could possibly matter to other players on trade.

You're literally just proving his point. You are overreacting.
Not only is it beta, and a new patch, but it's nowhere near as bad as you're making it out to be.

90k active players after 3 days of league launch with new ascendancies, 100 new gems, new class, new skills....even phrecia could hold the attention of players longer and it was a rehash event on top of 1 year old settlers league.

PoE would be packed with players when they release 100 new gems, ascendancies, skills and a class.

Nothing is fine with this game tbh and I pray GGG steer the wheel right
It's utterly bizarre listening to the Ziz talk. It sounds like we all want the same thing but then we get to the implementation and it's bricked.

People aren't against challenging content or taking a little stroll through acts as a form of enjoyment.

People ARE against being gimped / forced to play a trashbag through the entire experience.

I can assure you if in Terraria the character never got shield of Cthulhu, wings, hermes boots and Night's Edge it would be a struggle and it would suck to play. Emphasis on the latter.

A game should not suck to play. That's the violation PoE 2 is committing now.

I'll give another frame of reference. When Bethedsa revamped skills from Morrowind to Oblivion people were super mad. Myself included. Because in Morrowind you could train athleticism so far you could literally superman jump from one town to another. They removed all of that fun stuff in Oblivion.

Gamers play games chiefly for escapism and fun. We don't want something so uber realistic you are turned off playing it.

After three days post-launch, the game maintained 170k to 200k active players.
Even now, on day five, the player count consistently hovers between 150k and 200k during most hours, with expected dips to around 100k when much of the global audience is either asleep or at work.

It genuinely puzzles me why some people feel compelled to spread misleadingly low figures just to paint a more negative picture.
Either that, or they simply don't understand how time zones influence player activity across a 24-hour cycle.

The constant negativity feels not only unnecessary but strangely persistent. Instead of acknowledging the game’s clear success and a highly engaged community, some continue to push doom-and-gloom narratives that fall apart when you actually look at the data. Constructive criticism is always welcome, but twisting facts to fit a negative agenda adds nothing of value to the conversation.

People love comparing the numbers to Path of Exile 1, so let’s do exactly that. The recent event saw more than a third of its players disappear after just one day—and within less than 48 hours, over two-thirds had already dropped off, leaving the event with maybe about 35k plsyers.

And that wasn’t just an isolated case.
Even the current league,Settlers of Kalguur, which launched with a full content drop, experienced a massive player decline after the first week, similar to every other massive league launch prior to that.

Now compare that to Path of Exile 2, which is running on a relatively small patch and still retaining a remarkably strong and stable player base. Despite the lack of major new content, people are clearly engaged, and the numbers prove it.

That alone speaks volumes about the game's underlying quality and its potential moving forward.

Wrong.

Legacy of Phrecia had 90k on the first day, 77k the second, and steadily declined after that. Those were the players getting the MTX and then going back to PoE2. I was on Phrecia for 2 days to hit 80 then quit.

PoE has had many updates over the years, and its highest all-time peak player turnout was Settlers of Kalguur with 228,398 players.

Player counts have never been as high as PoE2. PoE2's current player count 5 days after launch (180,504) is almost as high as PoE1's all-time peak(228,398) on Kalguur launch day. PoE2 has broken regularly, and had 578,562 players on launch.

But this doesn't matter. It's the bandwagon fallacy.
Stick to trying to articulate your points constructively, instead of making generalize pronouncements and implicit threats that GGG will fail if they don't listen to you. Clearly they're doing fine.

If you have specific issues with PoE2 we should talk about those instead. Not compare player counts. Try to be more ingenuous.

i think a MAJOR phenomenon is that players are used to frictionless campaign and early maps and they don't have an established meta to follow yet. or, they are being encouraged to interact with trade earlier in the league than they would like, or at ALL. every day i'm reading takes from exiles who want a frictionless SSF POE2.

it is not inhaling copium to suggest "the game will change over time."

Phrecia isn't a league, it was an event on settlers. Same as necro settlers, of course people are fed up with the idle mechanic already after almost a year.

233k on steam, now count 60% of the player base on top of it because they are on standalone.

Meanwhile PoE2 sold over 1 million keys, 500 returned to 0.2, 200k approximately still play, 300k already done with the league after not one week. That's a whooping player loss of 80% players.

It doesn't look good for the game and it gets roasted left and right by literally every veteran on social media.

poe player counts have been steadily increasing every league poe2 player count decreased by half the math does not lie and it spells disaster for 0.3
