Tame Beast Not Working

Have not been able to tame a rare beast since act 4. Currently in the interlude desert area. I have despawned my companion beast (have a spare tame beast so I can improve.) with no change. In act 3 I was able to tame a second beast and clear the gem no problem.

Also going to add I am in game mode on a steamdeck using a controller.
I have noticed significant improvement intown fps, but it doesn't always give me all dialog options or register that they have been said already. Was in the same mode when it worked in act 3.

And yes this was a rare beast, all other enemies on screen were killed and I was standing right next to it with the beast highlighted.

AND some how I was able to get a different beast. Does trying to grab the same modifier cause an issue?

It only works on 'Beasts', they literally have to have that exact tag on them. Other types like 'Humanoid' it won't work on.

Pretty sure at least 95% of the people in this thread understand that.

I've been able to use the skill successfully once this league, and never again. New skill gem, Beast tag, rare. All the things. No luck.

Tried to get tame beast to work on frozen mandibles in the interlude for the past couple of hours with no luck. It just does the animation around my character, hinder is not applied, and nothing happens after I make the kill.

Logged into a different server and its working for other rare monsters just not the one I want...
