Cool spear tricks thread - maximizing fun and power for spear-enjoyers and pokemon trainers.
Found a diretusk boar in the infested barrens with periodic invulnerability aura and armor break. Pretty good for survivability and extra damage. Will probably run this puppy for a long time.
Impatience is insatiable.

At the moment I have 55% runspeed with haste aura up, and am also running combat frenzy (precision/cannibalism) / herald of thunder / wind dancer so I needed a pet slightly under the 44% reserve of quadrilla.
I just kept an extra tame gem slotted while I did maps with jungle and forest biome, and then eventually found an 'Alpha Primate', the red monkey with a bone club with the skills I wanted. Namely haste aura and shocking trail for shock uptime on bosses/rares to save myself some button presses. Alpha Primate is a 39.4% reservation with all 3 companion reservation nodes, has a very high health pool, and runs extremely fast and can almost keep up with my runspeed in a straight line, but keeps up great for just general mapping and skirmishing. He has enough health to be usable with loyalty (10% damage goes to pet) and the pet tank skills. Overall quite satisfied with this type of pet. Also there must have been a hotfix for AI behavior, because in T15 maps the mobs actually attack my companion now. BTW I did drop down to 1 companion after around T13, because I felt shock trail + haste aura were covering my bases, and didnt need a 2nd guy for any particular reason. Also, straight up, the companions simply fall over and die unless they have elemental army+meat shield supports even combined with the resist nodes on the tree, the spell/elemental damage is just too large. " This seems to be a bug that doesn't affect everyone, but there is a Workaround to it (stolen from a reddit post): " As to Cool Spear Tricks: Rake + Shockwave with any level of Strength Stacking = extremely powerful early game clear and bossing, and transitions into an amazing blood loss setup later on with essentially no effort. With the recent fix to Blood Boil it will be even stronger if you're a Ritualist. Last edited by latsyrc#0347 on Apr 10, 2025, 8:18:41 AM
