I see what you are saying, but I don't necessarily agree. It's not GGG's responsibility to police this down to the most nuanced degree. It's a platform for talking about the game. I think they should have full discretion over what they think is reasonable on the forum. They don't want politics on the forum, he's a political figure, I don't think it's a long bow to draw.

I understand the nuance you are speaking of, I just don't think there is any need for pictures of Obama on the POE forum, even if it is not directly political. Beyond perhaps if Obama was playing the game or involved in the community somehow. Reddit or other social media might be a better place for it.

This is largely an American concept. This is a New Zealand company that is owned by a Chinese corporation. I think there is a lot of water to swim in. If it gets to the point of arguing freedom of speech on the POE forum, it is probably pretty far removed from playing the game. Not everyone agrees with the boundaries. They seemed to be overly sensitive on talking about AI this time last year in my opinion. It's their forum though, I think in general they are the best ones to set the limit of what they think is acceptable. They haven't put you on probation or banned you, they just removed the thing they don't agree with and indicated that they don't want anything like that on the forum.

I agree this sounds like a grey area and likely not offensive, but they have to draw the line somewhere, or else people keep pushing the boundaries.

Just got off probation. I was put on it for replying to a new PoE player who was making threads like "if you don't like PoE 2, shut up and leave." In my response, I simply asked who he was to be making statements like that.

Yeah they don't like that either. Have noticed them trying to break up bickering on the forum for some time now. Not sure when it started, might of been around the time of the Pathofmath incident.

I understand that often the person who gets pinged is the one that retaliates to a bunch of stupid comments. Just seems there is a bit too much tension on the forum currently. Some of that is from things that are out of GGG control. Some of it is directly related to things GGG have done. The best thing is probably for them to concentrate on making good games, but they do have to moderate the forum. In fact they seem to have slipped up a bit with it. There are sections on the forum full of post that are in the wrong section. It wouldn't be a priority, but it wasn't a big problem this time last year.

The issue is that the people who would be moving those are the same people who respond to emails sent to support@grindinggear.com - and as someone who is active in the Help and Information and the Technical Support sections, I've lost track of the number of people complaining about waiting months not for a resolution to their issue, but just for the next response from Support.

So I wouldn't be overly surprised if a decision has been made that forum tidying actions unrelated to disciplinary matters might be abandoned until the support ticket queue has started to recover.

Yeah I think you are right. That would and should be taking priority, they need to sort it out.

People are pissed. Not only are GGG sacrificing PoE1 to make PoE2, they are also working backwards on PoE2. People say stupid shit when they're pissed, and I understand that they cross the line sometimes. I've never had a probation in my 13 years here, but I can sort of smell it coming these days, due to me being pissed, and due to the amount of censoring here lately.

I feel like things got an order of magnitude worse when they added "needlessly negative comments" to the Code of Conduct. It's so vague it's functionally meaningless.

Full damage control? I just hope Mr Johnathan is taking into consideration all the hate and WHY there is hate. Its like someone reverted all the good commits from 0.1.x to 0.2.0. I just think they need to think about having a PTR of sorts cause these wild swings of difficulty in combat and terrible loot drops are going to destroy their good will with many people.

Ppl are passionate about the game, they care, we want a GOOD GAME! They gave us a taste with 0.1.x and it was fine. Perfect difficulty ramps etc. But then they made the decision to just remove all the good fun. Blizz did that with D4. They swung way too hard in difficulty and the forums was on FIRE. They even came out and said they f'd up and they fixed it... Blizzard, listen? I know righT?!?!?! . I am still waiting on Johnathan to admit HE WAS WRONG, AND WE WAS RIGHT. And get some reverts moving along ASAP!
