after 13 Years of loyalty
All the people hopping from game to game: they’re not part of the Path of Exile community. They’re asylum seekers. We welcomed them with open arms, and you GGG repaid us by spitting in our faces and the game we love.(PoE1)
The real issue goes back to what GGG told us 13 years ago—they promised that PoE1 would continue to be supported and updated, as long as the financial side made sense. The players delivered—we paid, we supported. But GGG broke that promise. That’s why core PoE1 players are angry. We see the new wave of players, the ones who’ll jump to the next trending game without a second thought, who don’t really care—they’re just chasing a high. Like someone hopping from thrill to thrill, never committing, always looking for the next fix. We, the core players, were married to this game. But now, GGG has divorsed us for someone new—a flashy biach with no loyalty. And yeah, that stings. Last bumped on Apr 9, 2025, 1:30:13 PM

The influx of players are brought by the Hype train.
I don't believe POE 2 was developed with the Hype train in mind. It was developed based on the "VISION". The new players bought by the Hype train probably also don't like the "VISION". So there we have it! Angry people bought by the hype train and Past players unhappy with the "VISION". Video game company faced with the dilemma of making games they want to make or make games players actually enjoy playing. At this point it's just impressive GGG manage to piss everyone off. Trust is earned, usually over a long period of time.
Trust is easily lost; it only takes one lie, one broken promise. Once lost, trust is nearly impossible to regain. GGG has lost the trust of many players. It doesn't help that the Devs smirked in our faces when they did so. I, for one, no longer trust them to do the right things. Their pursuit of some "vision," some ideal at odds with the game we came to love, their enthusiastic abandonment of PoE 1 in favor of the "hot, new thing" (no matter that the heat comes from a growing dumpster fire of a sequel) has alienated me to the point that, if PoE 1 ceases to entertain me, I'll turn my back on it without a second thought. I reckon I've gotten my money's worth over the years. ='[.]'= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/ whiskers =@[.]@= boggled / =>[.]<= annoyed or angry / ='[.]'= concerned / =0[.]o= confuzzled / =-[.]-= sad or sleepy / =*[.]*= dazzled / =^[.]~= wink / =~[.]^= naughty wink / =9[.]9= rolleyes #FourYearLie Last edited by Raycheetah#7060 on Apr 7, 2025, 5:42:15 AM

That's really your problem. You've romanticized the idea that we're tied to a "COMPANY" that really wants to make money. You've paid for a bunch of MTX and tabs to get certain things in the game, so you haven't sworn a contract with the "COMPANY" of eternal love... Some of you live in a parallel universe, and well, even thinking that other players are low-class because they're here for the hype is worrying, to say the least.

Would you rather have Chris back lying to himself about the jarring disparity between what GGG's Design Pillars say and what could be seen on any popular stream at the time?
GGG's Design Pillar #1 as shown at GDC2019 Visceral Action Combat Any popular stream in 2019 Player's foot the size of the screen twitching in triple beyond maps with loot filter sounds dinging like a casino. R0dHIGlzIGNyZWF0aXZlbHkgZGVhZC4gS2V5IHBlb3BsZSBoYXZlIGxlZnQu

I don't understand the issue.. You can play poe2, you got all the stash tabs, all the customization from poe1.. Sometimes it's good to upgrade!

" The issue is that PoE 2 is a fundamentally different game from the original. The pace is much slower and does not make sense, given the league system which has you replaying the campaign with new characters for each league. The mobs are also much faster and can overwhelm you more easily than in PoE 1. It's basically just Ruthless mode. People that want Ruthless mode can play PoE 2 and be fine, but players that want a faster experience with more loot are only left with PoE 1 which has been put on the backburner by GGG. Personally, I have more of a preference for a faster game experience in an ARPG. After all, that's the "A" in ARPG. You slash through hordes of monsters and get loot that can make you stronger or richer. Last edited by Ondrashek06#5795 on Apr 8, 2025, 5:04:04 AM

"Holding a company to what was said 13 years ago and when they were just starting out is just silly. The world of gaming is entirely new and different, you are new and different, GGG is new and different. If you love 2012 so much, just play Acts 1-3 over and over again. When companies make forecasts/promises about the future, they are guessing what the future will be like. Whining about decades old company "promises" not being kept is beyond ridiculous. Are you still using the same computer you used back in 2012? I guess not. "Gratitude is wine for the soul. Go on. Get drunk." Rumi

" its quite interesting whenever i see these sort of replies. its like someone complains, this politician promised me this and that. he never did charge me anything but he sold me the idea that he could do build a public park with the money. but in the end the politician used the money to build a theme park instead. its not what was originally promised. its still a good theme park. but its still a betrayal of trust. but instead of empathizing, people brush it off blaming us for being dumbasses for trusting the politician. i've seen this a lot. its honestly a frustrating POV. if i m being honest, these sort of responses are not wrong. theres a chunk of truth to it, just that it downplays the fact that GGG misled people, with false promises. " things change. i agree to that. marriages are similar. you marry someone and sometimes they change. its understandable that they change. its understandable that the marriage might not work out. 5 years, 10 years, 20 years. if a person breaks a promise its always a betrayal of trust. " i can summarize all these 3 comments into its essence "i dont care as much about this issue as you do so i m just going to downplay it". you all are NOT WRONG with what you guys have said. but the fact is you're simply downplaying what people feel passionate about. to me i dont appreciate football. i find it a waste of time watching grown men chase a ball. and that is my bias. i could even then make a statement, theres 10001 things better to do than watch football. and i would be objectively correct. but for a person who is passionate about football. they would be upset with what i just said. theres really no reason for me to downplay football that way. similarly theres no reason to downplay what people find passion in. i find it especially ironic that gamers would even say shit like "its just a game". gamers have been facing so much criticism for their hobbies and one of such criticism is that why do gamers dedicate so much time playing a game? its just a game after all. its so ironic. but i m guessing my words are wasted on you guys anyway since you're not equally invested to begin with.
