Decaying Hex
Hi,
Decaying Hex does not scale from any support gem like Intense Agony, Swift Affliction, Derange and so on. As supports work with e.g. Corrupted Blood from corrupting cry support in this manner, i assume this is a bug. It makes decaying hex unusable as a main damage dealer at the moment, which is unfortunate because it looked like it would be fun to build and gear around. This might be intended. The skill doesn't say "base damage". It just says deals intelligence as chaos damage. Look at Impending Doom Support Gem, and you can see it specifies % of mana as "base damage".

I do not believe it is intended for three reasons:
1. Other support gems with similar wording (such as corrupting cry, stomping ground etc.) are scalable by other support gems, so Decaying Hex would be the outlier without giving any indication for it. 2. Why bother giving it flat damage scaling if the damage is not scalable any further and therefore not usable as a damage skill. Could just give it 10 DPS and call it a day (to make it only usable as a target painter for dark effigy e.g.) 3. It would reduce the amount of chaos DoT Builds to only ED/Contagion instead of having at least 2 viable and very distinct build options (+hybrid options). Which would just be a shame. Kind Regards. |

Hoping this gets fixed as well. Nevertheless, "decay" is counted as a debuff (https://poe2db.tw/us/Decay) so the things that would apply to it are ailment magnitude etc (https://poe2db.tw/us/Bleeding as reference).
As physical damage affects indirectly bleeding damage, it would make sense to have chaos damage also affecting decay. To be kept in mind that the attribute "IsScalable" is set to 1. |

Increased chaos damage from the passive tree does work with decay.
I would not expect ailment magnitude to work, as decay is not an ailment (Damaging Ailments are Poison, Ignite, Bleed). It should behave more like corrupted blood. Corrupted Blood is a physical damage over time debuff which is applied via a warcry using the corrupting cry support. It can be scaled by increased physical damage and by linking other supports such as Brutality and Swift Affliction to the warcry. For Decay I therefore would expect to work in a similar manner and be scalable by support gems such as swift affliction, derange, intense agony. Thank you for the poe2db links :) Kind Regards |

Decaying Hex definitely should be affected by the logical Damage over Time supports. The game doesn't even let you slot those supports into curses unless you slot Decaying Hex first.
Please don't wait until next major league update for this one. It has bricked my character build entirely. |
