Reflection Upon The Community Recently

Hi there,

I would like to invite other like-minded individuals to reflect upon the current state of the community and share some positivity in this thread.

1. Disclaimer

My opinions are my own, I hope you will respect them and keep negativity away from this post. I would also like to add that all criticism is valid and I stand with the community when credit is due. Whoever, I believe the community feedback (in a general sense) on the recent update has been impulsive, and more often than not, I would ask that you remember most companies would have charged for this much content and give us zero credit for our opinions.

2. Reflection Upon The Community Recently

The work GGG has been pulling off is far from ordinary, and it is only possible in a project where there are individuals personally invested, passionate to create the best game they've ever done so far and who are experts in the genre and possess experience exceeding 10 years of development in that same category, and in this case, same game and it's sequel.

I am sure the developers are aware of this, but I would like to invite members of the community to show them their shared vision and passion for the project so they may not question their values and mission.

Path of Exile 2 is a masterpiece, not only for how much it offers, but for how greatly detailed and carefully placed everything is. A game of it's complexity is hard to pull off in itself, but to pull off with this level of quality and content is a treat hardly ever done. To compare it with other ARPGs is, honestly, not fair, and I mean this as a player, because ARPGs have always been niched and the game has managed to reach outer audiences who weren't interested in the genre before.

Also, it's good to remember that this is Early Access and conflict is expected, but to say content is rushed is not true, releasing content as soon as possible is the best way to iterate and improve the game. The developers could have delayed this and delivered something way off from what we could have wanted, whoever they chose to release it sooner to keep us entertained in exchange for our feedback to bring the game even further from what they originally could if they didn't continuous delivered us content and actively listened to our feedback - allowing the game to surpass it's expectations.

Additionally, from the time of this writing the team has already released multiple fixes since the last patch (which hasn't been out for one week) addressing the communities concerns and have already announced a more significant patch addressing most critical concerns pointed out by the community in the latest Q&As to be released tomorrow.

Hopefully, I can bring some positivity to the community by saying how much the game, the team and their attention to the community is exceptional, and I hope others will share their opinions as well so the team over at GGG can see and know their hard work is very much appreciated.

Finally, I support both Jonathan and Mike for being so upfront with the game and speaking so openly to the community, and I also appreciate all of the team holding down the fort at GGG - without them this wouldn't be possible.

That is all from me. Thank you, Exiles.

I don't respect your opinion because it's not based on anything substantial. Moreover, your profile doesn't give the impression that you've dedicated much time to the game. PoE2's online is filled with exactly these kinds of tourists. The hype will eventually die down, streamers will stop promoting the game, and it will all come to an end.

I'm not sure I understand your "...not based on anything substantial." since the only affirmations I make are regarding the speed of content delivery and addressment of the core issues which, so far, have been very quick. The rest is just me being positive about the game's aspects I think are nice and got diminished by the current negative outbreak.

I do respect your opinion though and I think it's fair to believe there are problems which are far from my comprehension (as a casual) to the game. I would definitely agree with that.
What you fail to understand is people want poe-like game, not souls-like one. The current patch doesn't offer anything interesting and after the nerfs players are questioning where this project is heading. For me the game is not fun at all, the ascendancy nodes for the Lich are bad and work against the builds I'm trying to do. Those nodes should be empowering a build, not actively sabotaging skills and items. And don;t get me started on the lame support gems we have, 30% more damage at the cost of other effects. Thats your build diversity and its not looking good. No wonder 45% of the players are spamming LS, nobody wants to craw on maps and fight a mob for 5 minutes.

You know what brings positivity.
A good game.

The rest is your opinion, its valid, for you.
The criticism is because of design choices.
Not bugs, there are bugs, but the players are mostly pissed because of conscious design decisions. No shortage of warnings from the community on these forums about perusing some of the decisions. No surprise here.

Looking forward to you listing the objective points of how it's a "masterpiece", and don't mention the irrelevant nice graphics with zero visual clarity (AGAIN) that melt your CPU and GPU in every situation.
"My opinions are my own, I hope you will respect them and keep negativity away from this post"

so..... you can say w/e you want while you restrict everyone else's??? anything you could say is lighter than thin air and has no value whatsoever.
They really need to make the poe2 forum section more visible.

Just because you said "people want this" and "people want that" doesn't mean you represent the community. You represent your opinion and probably a few of your friends. Same for me with my responses.

You are right. People are questioning the nerfs; however, some people that I play with believe it was necessary. They don't believe POE 2 should be a graphical upgrade of POE 1. People found ways to create some broken builds. It is broken and you fix it before it goes live. There are so many dynamics and things will change. This is why it is called Open Beta and not Full Release.

You want X to work the way you want and if it doesn't then you tear down the game and "speak on behalf of the community". If you don't like that Toyota created Lexus then go and buy a Toyota. It still sells. However you don't tear down Lexus because you can't get Toyota features in a Lexus. Especially when you were told it would be a different vehicle from the same makers.

I say that to say this. There is a reason they didn't shutdown POE 1. If you like that POE-like gameplay then it still exists. Go for it. This is a different direction they chose to go with and they trying to make it a reality.

People don't like souls-like games? You mean a genre that sells millions of games each year? People don't like fights that last 5 minutes? When I get a map mod where minions get 70% more life I feel like I have won the lottery. This is what some individuals want.

People weren't too fond of Dark Souls when it came out but over time it created it's own genre. If they listened to everyone that complained "on behalf of the community" they wouldn't have gotten anywhere. GGG is trying to blend an ARPG with souls-like and I can see the vision. In my opinion it is really good and I want this NOW :)

I like that fights last 5 minutes. I would actually prefer a map with multiple large mobs that are challenging (not with cheap tactics) and very few trash mobs. I like that you have to think to get out of the way of an attack. I like playing with more than one button. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean the rest of the community is in alignment with yourself. Part of the community loves the direction the game is going.

I have 400 hours in POE 2 and I played A. of Chyula monk and now a lich with zero minions with a dependency on DOTs, Curses, totems and trying to fit in hexblast. I do look at builds from others however it was after I tried my own. This isn't POE 1 and the more we understand that the more we should give the game a fair chance.

I'm just as passionate as you however my passion is for them to succeed and it doesn't have to be my way or the highway. SIGH.
