3.25 End-of-League Private League Events

When will we get the private leagues? We need an update here

I didn't realize Settlers was still a thing. Doesn't make the lack of info any better, but my original statement about only having Standard is a moot point at least. That would have been totally bonkers to have zero leagues in play for 1+ weeks with no new league on the horizon.

I'm going to assume that GGG does not read these comments, but strongly believe that a lot of the pain they've felt over the past year is because they have completely abandoned POE1 assuming that base will love POE2 when it is done. I think there is strong evidence to support that there are a fair amount of people that will always love #1 and probably never like #2. There's nothing wrong with that. But maybe they should consider putting in place a track for the next 1-2 seasons of POE1 that set the stage to sunset it forever.

I think it is becoming clear that support for the game will mean likely 1-2 leagues a year at max and more likely this next season will be a year long. If that is the case they should dedicate a small group of resources to put it in maintenance mode, call it what it is, and then have resets or tweaks to the formula every 4 months or so to bring people back in.

It's the lack of engagement with the POE1 faithful that is driving a lot of the POE2 hate and lack of understanding. That game just isn't ready for prime time and this game is still the best ARPG there is.

I think youre taking it a bit far - GGG did let us know (fairly late), that getting poe2 ready was a challenge, that required more man power than expected. They needed all hands on deck for 0.2, simply because poe2 still required a ton of work, which sadly ended up necglecting poe1.

I think we will see 3 leagues, on average, in the future for poe1. Poe 1 and 2 are two very different games, which each attract its own gamers, would be insane not to keep both running. They said they want both poe1 and 2 to run simultaneously. I dont see any reason to doubt GGG.
Poe2 is still a "baby" and it does require alot of work in the beginning, like a baby, but over time, it will get easier to maintain.
Be patient and have faith in ggg :)
this is so disappointing
Somehow they managed to kill both PoE1 and PoE2. Impressive

We’ve also created some new events for those who want to use new mechanics with some old ones!

There seems to be some confusion on the forum about this part of the post. Some people think the whole post relates to private league, and some think the section after this line relates to public events. If this can be clarified in the update it would remove that confusion.

If it is all private events, I also think a more concrete update about timing for 3.26 is needed. Many players who were playing Phrecia now need to decide what they want to do since it is no longer running. Having some confirmations of 3.26 timeline would help with that.

I'm also wondering, as I think a lot of other people who were happily playing Phrecia are, why it was only announced to run for a month? Anyone could see that there was a lot of interesting ideas in the ascendancies to hold peoples attention for at least as long as a normal league. It was a really good event, well done on running it. Why though would it be implemented for such a short time in the absences of any other current POE1 content? Extending it was also good, but why finish it, when it seems that 3.26 is not going to run next month and is not yet confirmed for June. It seems like you guys are under a lot of pressure with the POE2 development and timelines. Surely ending an event that people have been very positive about without something to replace it only adds to that pressure?

I think it is good that you have made some of the gauntlet content available for people who may not of got to interact with it. It was done very well.

I'm not too sure about having all of these events based off Settlers. I think some people are fairly tired of it. I myself have built the town 4 times now. I think there is still some value in the Settlers mechanic, and found it to be quite a good combination with Phrecia. However, I think it would be better to have some options that don't contain settlers, for people who have exhausted their interest in the league over the past year. Reducing the building prices in Phrecia did help with reducing the friction of building the town again. It is not enough though, if the town is continuously needing to be built. The building cost could come down at least another 20% at this point, or include pathways that let people focus on building the section they want to focus on without needing the other sections first.

Yeah, but see, I would rather have some poe 1 rather than no poe 1. I do not enjoy poe 2 or the direction it is going in.

Oh, I completely agree. I only made it a few days with 0.2 of POE2 and have played POE1 almost constantly since 3.0 beta. My point was that they are NOT going to support this game much moving forward. It's just reality. If you are buying into the BS that they will release 2 and maintain both leagues moving forward you are not being realistic.

The past 3 years have been almost exclusively POE2 support. Sure they have had leagues, but there has not been an expansion since Exarch & Eater, which was all the way back in Feb of 2022. That's 3 years without an expansion. What makes you think they'll just hop back in & build on this game when they have POE2 launched??? It'll be nothing but excuses about how they can just do it better on the 2.0 engine vs. 1.0.

What's crazy is that Phrecia showed how a little support can have a HUGE impact and there's lots they could experiment with in POE1 still. I'd love to see them lean into that with a skeleton crew of team members and release leagues every 4 months again.

Now back to those details about events ... I'm waiting ;)

I personally think you are very wrong. In the end of the day it is about money. Vote with you wallet, i know i will. The flock of poe2 players is great but core poe1 support crowd is what hold this game together.
Every time you see arguments of POE2 is trash vs poe2 is amazing, in vast majority POE2 amazing crowd has zero support packs behind them.
Just put the game on maintenance already
