CROSSBOW play style and 7 points that Devs need to focus on them!

Crossbow talent (south of talent tree) probably the most "weakest" talent tree i have ever seen. Crit and Crit bonus (%15 AS penalty included) argueably the most weakest talent points i have ever seen again.

Need to buff there and like tripple buff that talent tree. Reload speed/mech managable but they need to put something "reload during dodge roll" or baseline.
Character already suffering movement penalty while using crossbows and sometimes you don't even have split seconds to reload because mob density increasing at the late game and they are facerolling you.

If you don't bring some kind of extra stat like "Quivers" you gotta buff base skill damages more.

Crossbow builds tends to fight with Shockburst Rounds againts bosses/uniques but our main problem is applying shock first. I really hate to carry a BOW and use Storm Caller arrow for it. Just give us something that applies shock like that.


Plasma Burst good opener but lacks afterwards. May be some sort of "gem" that makes ability to make instant shoot 5-10seconds after 1st usage??

Galvanic Shards only clearing ability for xbows i believe 7 bolts (%20qual) still pretty low for it. It should be atleast 10-14 (%20qual).

I m just throwing ideas but these are mostly end-game sufferings.

2. The crossbow getting stuck is annoying for sure. +1

3. Reload is tied to attack speed, so if you dont want reload just build up some attack speed or use the reload speed support gem.

4. Crossbows are far more powerful than bows so i dont think they need a quiver type item, they DO need a movement ability though.

5. Dodging cancels all animations/actions, see #3 for solution to reloads.

6. crossbow skills are mostly fine, you just have to invest the right passives for them (area, projectile, crit)

7. I don't understand this one, do you mean you want a support to shoot in a tighter spread? because i also agree there should be a reduce firing angle support.


5. Reload time its not just an animation action. Its the whole universe in Crossbow weapon. Devs need to improve it. I don't accept the reasons why not reloading while dodging. It's vital during battle. Putting a gem to lower reload time doesn't solve this problem. Also need a button for not-auto reloading.

For example if you firing monsters and drops coming in front of you, you accidently put mouse cursor over them and....boom weapon stops and most times you are a dead man!

I died tons of time like this and endly stopped picking items from ground. I disabled the option with Z. Annoying and rediculus bug.


its a failure in design.
You wont collect any item that is away from you more then 2 meters anyway, so it need fix.

The movement penalty is the worst of these problems. I didn't mention it, but yes it's the first on the list. While you're shooting, movement stops and sudden death awaits from afar. So much punishment with no reason. Noone can make miracles with crossbow. Broken builds doesn't exist related on it any more.
Disappointment and only that expecting from this weapon. No serious damage, not enough passive points to support it, way too slow compared to others, a lot of bugs that ruining experience and end up to unexpected deaths, not fun at all.


Only 2 skills worth and these becouse there are some specific few builds related on it. The are 2 missing skills remaining for future reveals. But Devs need carefully design and think smart before releasing them to us.


In my opinion the new coming gems can make the difference in old skills. If carefully will be designed and with no negative as always effects, then it could be a hope for people returning to this style of play.

Until then some bug fixes will make the disappointment a little less painful.

What exactly to understand, that a char with spear or jeday weapon can clear the whole map in 30 sec while crossbow needs at least 5 minutes????

Devs abandoned this Crossbow weapon type of play, they don't care anymore. Recently stats show clearly what people choose as class and weapon. Tactician is also garbage.


Hey fren! Tactician here. Having a blast (heh heh) in 0.2 and on pace to clear all content. I'm clearing T16s with relative ease and am up to Xesht +4, KotM +4, Simulacrum +2; haven't started in on Arbiter yet but based on the ease with which I've cleared the others I think I'll get to +2 or 3 pretty quickly.

No doubt the Ascendancy needs some help - it's not perfect by any means. But "garbage" is a huge stretch. If that's how you feel I have to think you just didn't give it much of a chance.

Yes becouse you use a specific Ascendancy class and combinations bro. That is the whole thema from the beginning of early access. Fixing balance so that anyone can have equally weighted options. I know that you did it becouse i saw yesterday one guy with spear clearing a whole map in 20 sec. I lied sory i couldn't reach him to see him becouse he was so fast, fastest than flash hero! That is not Jonathan's vision of course.
