Poe 1 3.26

I think that's the idea with Faustus, he's supposedly here to stay, and I guess gold is the best choice as a currency to trade with.

PS: Every day I log on to the site to see if I see the date for the new league on the front page, and every day I end up disappointed U_U

your discussion is interesting but i was only talking about the black market and the design we see in poe 2 wehere you get better items in vendors than by killing monsters or opening chests in the game.

i dont have strong opinion on exchange. will be better when we dont spend gold on the town building, we will have more gold to do the trades that can be quite expensives (unles they balance gold ofc :) )

If Faustus stays and gold is a requirement (which would be normal and logical), it needs to be balanced, because without a settlers’ town, gold would only be spent on Faustus. If you give people the same amount of gold they get from the settlers’ town, there would eventually be an imbalance in the market.

The amount of gold earned needs to be balanced to keep everything in check. "player-to-player" trading will always be essential, but Faustus saves a lot of time (he saves you from having to whisper many people who don’t respond, because many are bots set up for scamming waiting for unsuspecting players to list items at the same ridiculous prices so the bot creators can auto-whisper them. They are the cancer of trading, in my opinion).

Sometimes, trying to buy 5 or 6 dozen of a currency type can take an hour just because no one responds not even during peak league times. Thank the people who make those bots for that. Faustus helps eliminate that kind of trash too, to me he’s a blessing.

Because barely anyone wants Settlers to go core (we are already sick of this town managment) while everyone wants Faustus to stay. Not the first time they only keep part of the previous league, removing everything else.

It makes a lot of sense.

They've been pretty clear that the addition of gold and gold respec was an idea "borrowed" from PoE2, and not a "Settlers mechanic". The Settlers mechanics just made it natural to connect everything to the town - for now. I am 97.5% sure that the currency exchange, gold and gold respec will go core, and that the rest of Settlers won't.

I don't see how they could remove the currency exchange now... And I don't really see how the currency exchange would function without gold.
