True ARPG Innovation Means GGG Fixing One-Shots and XP Loss

"

If GGG wants to claim true innovation in the ARPG genre, it's time to confront two of the most frustrating and outdated mechanics in Path of Exile 2: unpredictable one-shot deaths and meaningless XP loss.

"Unpredictable" one-shots and "meaningless" XP loss only matter if you’re not playing well or refuse to adapt.

PoE has always rewarded preparation, awareness, and build optimization. If you’re dying to one-shots, it’s either a skill issue, lack of mitigation, or ignoring telegraphed mechanics, none of which are game flaws.

As for XP loss, it's one of the few meaningful death penalties left in the genre. It creates real tension and forces you to play smart instead of face-tanking through everything.

GGG isn’t clinging to outdated systems, they’re preserving what makes PoE rewarding and fun, risk, challenge, and personal growth.

If you want to corpse run through everything while being hand-fed loot showers, there's a whole industry of games ready to sell you that instant gratification fantasy.

yea...

you are unprepered to play.

also, you are unprepered to sugest any thing.

i love ppl who make comments like yours and hide acc..

let me guess...

you sit on level 70 in poe2, and came here to sugest ppl to shut-up play as it is, or leave.

so why theres is a forum?.

One of the worst things about some of the newer ARPGs for me is that lack of punishment for dying. Dying should hurt. It should have a drawback that you feel.

I think drawing the line at losing XP but not downleveling is a good compromise.

XP loss would be good if not constantly laggy servers and bugged oneshot mechanics. 90% of my deaths are due to some bullshit. As mentioned before game is not hard it is rng based

10 iq answer. No matter what your defences are , how higher your Hp/Es you will get random one shots. Worse of worse are offscreen ones or invisible ground effect.

I used to experince this randomness of one shots on POE1 too. Let's admit GGG hates defence and we are seeing each update they are nerfing defensives (noteables mostly).

Rid of XP Loss and put a max damage threshold player takes no more than %75 of their healths.

We are humans not AI. Players should be able to react when damage taken.

Wake up! PoE2 isn't a skill check, it's a gear check wrapped in RNG. One-shots and XP loss don't make it hardcore, they just waste your time. GGG's outdated design punishes time, not mistakes, and keeps players through burnout, not fun.

Clearly, you haven't played a game that actually requires skill-try soloing Malenia or Consort Radahn, play Nine sols take on Khazan the First Berserker. That's real challenge.
