1 rank up or down every Merc and there is only a max of 3? what is even the point of this then? everyone will just always be max.

If there was like 10 levels and each level was like 5 Merc to gain a level and still 1 full level for bailing so one bail would cost you 5 encounters. Then there would be some incentive to not go fishing or whatever they are trying to protect from. But as it is there is virtually no downside or reason for it to exist.


Because it's average GGG unnecessary tedium for the sake of tedium. They don't want people spam-farming up "the good" mercs and just abandoning the bad ones.

Giving people a reason to consistently engage in content rather than no downside to ignoring it? Sheesh you're right. Every bit of content should only be engaged if rewarding 100% of the time. Very unnecessary to have a downside to ignoring content. Every abyss should include 4 spires or more, every breach should spawn a boss, every harvest have a t4 plant... the list goes on.

Doesn't this force players to engage with the mechanic even if they don't see any items they want from the mercs? Seems like a bad change, why force us to engage with the mechanic if we deem there is no loot we want?
Can I bring a mercenary that I recruited earlier on the starting map and use them to fight another mercenary on a new map?
