Good topic for my first one after deciding to take part in the forums.

I played for the first time around the end of 2017. I thought it was really fun, got to somewhere in Act 3, decided to make a new character (or two) and got to the same point and just never played again. Just thought the game isn't for me.

I played a lot of D3 over the years but one day about a year ago I just got so damn bored of it. Along with all the other games I was busy with. So out of sheer boredom and thinking I need to learn something new and be stimulated I decided to try again in October. And damn what a good decision. Since then I've put in around 500 hours, which is quite a bunch for the amount of time I put into gaming nowadays and not playing much for the last few weeks of 3.25.

So PoE clicked for me that first time I had to decide if this new item I picked up was actually an upgrade, having to think about the stats and whether it is better and not just an automatic "o this does more damage because it says so". When I got an upgrade and then realised o wait my resistances are screwed now and when I still sometimes feel like I have no idea what I am doing.

This is probably the best summation of exactly what makes PoE stand out from the rest of the pack. It can also be applied to every single aspect of the game, not just character building and gearing.

It also summarized 99.9% of all complaints on the feedback forum: people not recognizing that THIS paragraph is the entire point of the game lol. PoE doesn't work like the rest....it requires YOU to make considerations, rather than making all the choices for you.
Starting anew....with PoE 2
