Mercenaries need to go core!

Bump for visibility. :)

I see that you are new here.

I'm as old as dirt. At least according to my kids. Been playing PoE since Legacy League. GGG has, in my estimation, been pretty responsive to problems with the game. While I don't always agree with their solutions, they do make a good faith effort to police the economy, play balance, cheating and bugs.

reason why they could go core:

1. They add higher build diversity. You can have them either as support, loot enhancement support, Damagecarry. Damage support or defensive support. Or little bit of each.
2. They, when fought, have some unbalanced overpowered abilities that will oneshot you. (Like the shieldboy reflect that will onetap you)

Bump for Mercenaries to go core! :)
The only way how mercs can be added to core is to restrict them from equipping player items. Otherwise things like Doryani, Perquil toe, 500+ rarity Gravebind is only beginning. You patch one doryani, people find ten other similar things. But that defeats the whole purpose why some people so like them. So why bother with them at all?

Even without items mercs have next OP things
* almost invulnerable (not sure, if they can taunt, but if can - it just unfair)
* free 50% aura
* loot multiplier
* they have quite good dps
Spoiler
I see how my kinetist merc in crap gear clears whole screen of white and blue mobs at 8mod t16, and realize that this guy have more dps, than my first lvl 95 char. What the point of building your char if merc with whatever items is stronger than any newbie build? People jokes about aurabots and their carry mercs, but i think it not so joke for some people.

And what you pay for this? 25% more mob health? Who cares if they provide 2x if not more dps.

About_AG
People say - "but we already have same thing with AG, why we can't have mercs?". But no
* AG can only equip half of items (merc 10, ag 6), which straightaway limits his power twice.
* AG is not immortal, my AG with 40k hp, 75%/55% block, 83% max res, 75% chaos res, 3k regen/s, recover on block, ailment immune - still can die in hard encounters like t17 trinity boss.
* AG costs you some sockets on gear, and some passives in tree
* AG has zero dps and can't kill even a blue mob

And even with such drawbacks, i think AG is quite OP, what to say about mercs, which is at least 3x more powerful.

Though i like the idea about Heist mercs, at least they have personality. Maybe they can be balanced.

you dont like player power, you dont like loot. Why dont you go play either POE2 or Ruthless? Genuine question. Seems like you must hate any kind of crafting aswell and trading, as it gives players way too much power.

Are you sure that's the card you want to play?

I could just as easily say "you don't like challenge, you don't like anything which isn't a single-click autowin loot pinata, why don't you go play Diablo 4 or Last Epoch? Seems like you must hate anything which isn't insultingly easy, as having challenges to overcome might hurt your feelings."

It's not a valid form of argument, even without going into the whole Glass House thing.

I don't think you understand. GGG doesn't like player power. If they give us mercs, not only will they get nerfed to not be unkillable, *YOU* will also get nerfed to make them a requirement in your build to get back the DPS and defenses *YOU LOST*. If your merc goes down in a map, you're screwed, so that means you'll also have to sacrifice your own benefits from them in order to make them tankier, meaning you will ultimately lose out by having them.

I don't think most people understand what they're asking for when they say they want mercs to go core. The only way this will work is if GGG guts their mechanics and only allows them to equip merc-exclusive gear like Heist crews.

Also, "you don't like loot"? Do you have any idea what the concept of supply and demand is? The more loot you get, the more it gets devalued due to the sheer amount being pumped into the game. There's a reason Headhunters are no longer so stupidly expensive anymore.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

To be fair, while I generally agree, HH is another case. It just isn't as powerful (as in: the mods you can steal) as it used to.
