Proposal to Adjust the Amount of Experience Points Lost Upon Death
Currently, dying results in a 10% experience loss. I propose reducing this to 5%.
A complete lack of penalty upon death would make the game dull. The risk of loss adds tension and engagement. However, a 10% penalty feels excessive. The 10% penalty dates back to Diablo over 20 years ago. Given how much gaming has evolved, is there a reason this figure remains unchanged? For working players with limited playtime—often just one or two hours—a 10% loss can negate an entire day's progress. This can lead to frustration and a loss of motivation to continue playing. Even with minimal map modifications, unavoidable deaths still occur. Veteran players would agree that unexpected deaths are a routine part of gameplay. As mentioned earlier, I'm not advocating for the removal of penalties. A 5% penalty still preserves the incentive to recover and continue challenging content. Alternatively, what do you consider a fair experience loss upon death? Last bumped on Jul 28, 2025, 7:12:55 AM

Simply avoid death, or at least minimize it, and the penalty effectively reduces to zero percent. Windows 11, 9950X3D, RTX 4090, 96GB DDR5, 14,100 MB/s SSD, 15,360x2160p @240Hz Ultra 4K Gaming & Workspace Powerhouse Last edited by VoidWhisperer42#5989 on Jul 27, 2025, 6:27:58 PM

" Why do people mock and look down on others like this? Was there anything disrespectful in what I wrote? Did I ever force anyone to make changes? After a full day of work, I just want to relieve some stress by gaming, but I barely get two hours to play. I spend that whole time being cautious, only to die at the last moment and lose all the progress I made that day. I have to turn off the game to sleep for work, and do you know how empty that feels? I simply suggested adjustments for people who find themselves in situations like mine, yet I get responses like, “Just don’t die,” or “Every death is the player’s fault.” What’s the reason for these elitist, dismissive remarks?
" nothing elitist about telling you to stop dying, improve your build and get better mechanically. that being said, get Omen of Amelioration saves 75% of xp on death |

" You people who live and breathe this game clearly have no intention of understanding the perspectives of others. Elitist mindsets are often held by those who don’t even realize they’re being elitist. Do you think I made my comment because I didn’t know about Omen of Amelioration? Of course I know how to grow the build I want to play, and I also know how to use Omen of Amelioration effectively. But unlike you, I don’t approach someone with a differing opinion and immediately say, “Oh, that’s just because you don’t understand the game.” Is this board meant for respecting others’ opinions and fostering discussion? Or is it simply a place to label those who share their thoughts as ignorant about the game and lecture them? Your comments completely disregarded the point I was making.
" lol you have more challenges complete this league than i do, stop spending your 1-2 hours of game time replying on the forums, buy your ameliorations and stop complaining Last edited by Rextec#4521 on Jul 28, 2025, 5:34:24 AM

" Nice to see your identity is clear—such a textbook superiority complex, huh? “Oh stop complaining,” LOL. If you're going to dismiss everything as whining, maybe it'd be better to shut this forum down altogether. For you elitists, discussions like adjusting death experience penalties, deciding whether the Omen of Amelioration should prevent XP loss when used for upgrades, deleting it entirely, or keeping it as is must seem so trivial they’re meaningless, right? If it looks like "nothing" to you, then you’re the one who shouldn’t be replying in a way that belittles people. That way, those of us who actually want to discuss this constructively can do so without interruption. |
