Bottom right of skill tree needs better defensive options

Evasion feels horrible compared to armor/es. There is nothing else in Ranger's immediate area other than spell suppression and leech.

It is clear at this point that the cumulative system changes have left it behind. The gap is stark and the benefits of starting as Ranger don't necessarily even things out.

It just feels screwy when I can pick up Gladiator and be immune to just about everything with 68% block no uniques required. Feels like I'm playing PoE in 2019 if I start as Ranger.

I'm not a game designer so I'm not going to propose anything concrete but I sincerely think it's a problem.

Evasion is defense by RNG. ='[.]'=

=-[.]-= sad or sleepy / =*[.]*= dazzled / =^[.]~= wink / =~[.]^= naughty wink / =9[.]9= rolleyes #FourYearLie
what more do you need than 90-95% evade, spell sup cap, ailment immunity and instant leech? if you don't want to play evade, look into converting dmg as most people do on right side
Yeah, bottom right is such a terrible place to be defensively. You only get evasion cap with almost no effort, spell suppression is basically handed to you, ailment immunity comes with minimal investment, and on top of that, you’ve got gain on hit everywhere and instant leech as a built-in regen engine. Real pain, huh?

It’s a lot less RNG if you actually know what you’re doing.
But hey, we all know you like to play your way,I can already picture the 30% evasion build with no layers of other defensive choices. Now that’s RNG.
Windows 11, 9950X3D, RTX 4090, 96GB DDR5, 14,100 MB/s SSD, 15,360x2160p @240Hz Ultra 4K Gaming & Workspace Powerhouse
Its actually one of the most defensive places on the tree if you ask me. Just compare with left side where all you get is armour, it really doesnt scale well in endgame where hits are much bigger. No spell suppress makes incomming damage much more spiky. Theres a reason why so many players chose right side tree builds.

It doesn’t take much to get a read on someone’s character. A bit of quiet observation and a handful of things they complain about, that alone tells a lot of the character’s stories. When someone says the Settlers' pirate boss is “too strong” and hits “hard”… well, that says plenty, and everything else just adds up even more. =^[.]~=

TECHNICALLY Evasion is the opposite of RNG: the entropy system guarantees that you'll take a hit eventually. Meaning you AREN'T operating within a random system, the system adjusts against randomness.

Also, There's no such thing as "less RNG"...it either is or isn't...but I get the point you are making lol.

It is RNG defense (sort of), but that RNG is heavily HEAVILY stacked in your favor. Add in a little avoidance and that can be pushed to basically 99% taking ZERO damage from hits. Then, you just need to mitigate the potential hit you actually do take which you get almost free from spell suppression and instant recovery. Then, you can even build block down there although that would travel a bit towards low-center.

The problem with saying that evasion is "rng defense" is that.....if you play as an evasion character, you need to PLAY as an evasion character: meaning you dodge almost everything MANUALLY anyway, and then 99% of your mis-times are covered through the actual evasion. And then the only hits you actually take are going to be small (because they'd only happen in large packs) and mitigated through your secondary layers.

But yes....if you stand still in the middle of a giant pack of mobs, then evasion by itself is the worst defense.
Starting anew....with PoE 2

You say that evasion feels so much worse than armor/ES. Let's assume for a moment that was actually the case, you do know the iron reflexes keystone, yes? If you rather play armor then you can do that just fine as ranger.
