Bottom right of skill tree needs better defensive options

"

TECHNICALLY Evasion is the opposite of RNG: the entropy system guarantees that you'll take a hit eventually. Meaning you AREN'T operating within a random system, the system adjusts against randomness.

Also, There's no such thing as "less RNG"...it either is or isn't...but I get the point you are making lol.

It is RNG defense (sort of), but that RNG is heavily HEAVILY stacked in your favor. Add in a little avoidance and that can be pushed to basically 99% taking ZERO damage from hits. Then, you just need to mitigate the potential hit you actually do take which you get almost free from spell suppression and instant recovery. Then, you can even build block down there although that would travel a bit towards low-center.

The problem with saying that evasion is "rng defense" is that.....if you play as an evasion character, you need to PLAY as an evasion character: meaning you dodge almost everything MANUALLY anyway, and then 99% of your mis-times are covered through the actual evasion. And then the only hits you actually take are going to be small (because they'd only happen in large packs) and mitigated through your secondary layers.

But yes....if you stand still in the middle of a giant pack of mobs, then evasion by itself is the worst defense.

Exactly, you nailed it. This is basic defense 101, stuff everyone should know after playing for years. Instead, we usually get the classic 'It's just RNG' excuse, especially from players who don't even make proper use of evasion or, presumably, any other defensive layers in combination.

bottom right has spell suppression - the best defensive layer bang per buck in the game

this + anything else you pick 'solves' spells
as a bonus - easy access to ailment immunity

now, the attacks - evasion is ofc good for that. being hit every Nth time is great, leaves room for recovery and if you play as you should - from range - it is perfectly enough

problem with that - mob soup type of content: ritual and the likes makes it impossible to play from range, esp in T17 (layouts)

but there is also an upside: the harder the content, the more evasion is redundant because attacks become rarer and rarer. in fact i cannot name any serious attack (that you arent supposed to 100% dodge like Shaper Slam) in the 'pinnacle' area of the game.

thus you can safely half-invest into evasion and dont worry much about it - generic investment from hybrid bases + blind gives enough. pure evasion is a death wish waiting to materialise. much better to go AR/EV or ES/EV and blunt the inevitable hit

the last bit, and most likely one that kills the most EV characters - DoTs. that one is tough

Succinct and true.

It doesn’t take much to get a read on someone’s character. A bit of quiet observation and a handful of things they complain about, that alone tells a lot of the character’s stories. When someone says the Settlers' pirate boss is “too strong” and hits “hard”… well, that says plenty, and everything else just adds up even more. =^[.]~=

None of your suppositions entitles you to use me or anyone else as your forum punching bag. There is a great deal to be read about your character from your posts, as well, and it has nothing to do with how you play PoE. Your smirking, ad hominem attacks on anyone with whom you disagree mark you as a glorified playground bully, and I'm hardly the only one to notice it. If this comes across as "too negative," well, the Mods have been asleep at the wheel where you are concerned, and this forum would be well-served by the vigorous muting of aggressive keyboard cowboys like yourself. ='[.]'=
