Changing premium tabs to merchant
" You would be converting a premium stash tab, something both PoE1 and PoE2 understand and support, into a trade merchant tab that only PoE2 understands. ie. PoE1 access to that tab will go poof until they add the trade merchant; therefore, if you actively play PoE1 and PoE2, you should think before you convert. |

" To be honest if this is actually true (and not just posturing) contact GGG support and explain. They are really good to deal with, and generally deal in a fair manner so if you did buy them in the last few days, they may well refund you so you can buy the appropriate tabs. " Ehh, maybe. It's more likely any premium tabs in POE1 will become remove only tabs (like at end of league) instead of being outright deleted, because I'm quite sure GGG don't want to deal with millions of "WHERE DID MY ITEMS GO?!" complaints, and also because they know full well anyone who played POE1 at all has those tabs filled to the brim with items they wanted to keep (or used to). " The main issue isn't the price; GGG has answered this question many times in a different form, and it is connected to how the new Merchant tab conversion system will work including its limitations. For years, players have been asking GGG for a way to convert four premium tabs into a single premium QUAD tab. While GGG has hinted that this was much more difficult to do without going into extreme detail, my knowledge as a software engineer makes it very clear to me: 1. Bundles They have to keep and retain a 1:1 accurate history / accounting of transactions since it involves real money. Because of this, they can't in all cases just blindly convert four premium tabs into a premium QUAD. For example, a user buys the six premium tab bundle and then requests a conversion. They're expecting an end result of one premium QUAD tab with two normal premium tabs untouched; however, to maintain the 1:1 accounting of transactions, how is this recorded? Does the transaction history now show the user purchased a bundle, a premium QUAD, both, a bundle partially refunded, etc? in 5 years, what if the user wants to convert that premium QUAD back to normal premium tabs? Where did it come from, what did it cost, etc? This issue becomes even more convoluted when you talk about the mixed item bundles that are more prevalent in PoE 2 in recent years. These accounting hurdles aren't thought of by the player, but it is a fact of dealing with real money, and it dampens development. 2. How stash tabs are stored in their database along with I/O performance Like a file in a file system, certain stash tabs have different sizes associated to them in the database. Knowing these fixed sizes or "alignment" allows the database to operate efficiently. You might be thinking, "so what, just limit conversions to multiples of two"; however, while a premium QUAD tab gives you four times the space in-game, it doesn't mean the tab takes up four times the space in the database. Just like a file system, the more you move records around in a mis-aligned way, the more fragmented the database becomes. Eventually, the database would need to undergo a "defragmentation" process to maintain peak performance which can be time consuming and expensive; therefore, it is best to minimize it as much as possible. This means, the more you can avoid doing things that disrupt the "alignment" of the database, the better. Its not a surprise to me that GGG isn't allowing conversion of premium QUAD stash tabs. They're maintaining "alignment" by not actually converting anything. Instead, they're simply marking in the database that premium tab as a merchant tab, an "affinity" allocation if you will. No change in size, no (major) change in meta-data... Don't get me wrong, the issues I mentioned can be solved; however, it would require extreme back end changes that GGG likely has already decided is not worth the dev. cost and trouble. As a side note, I will admit... if GGG does not give the player at least one free merchant tab, I think they're doing a dis-service to their players. it appears that normal stash tabs, that were converted to premium cannot be converted into merchant tabs. I hope they change that, since it was kind of a bait for old players who have tons of normal tabs to pay extra for conversion.

yea, my upgraded premium tabs are NOW* worthless, thanks for stealing my money for a "feature" that is getting replaced, and we cant convert the premium tabs we upgraded to merchant tabs because you are GREEDY, there is literally no other reason.
my premium tabs are the same as the others premium tabs, why are you so greedy noone is even gonna use premium stashes now, everyone is gonna buy from merchant tabs, you literally scammed every single player that supported you, this company went down to the lowest level since the "new' guys in charge Last edited by shacopewdz#1862 on Aug 29, 2025, 2:51:52 PM
