Is ground loot even worth the time anymore?

As title indicates, my frustration lies with ground loot being practically pointless (except for specific lvl82 items/t1 mods).

This leagues deterministic crafting + exceptional items has made ground loot completely worthless, I get anywhere between 4-8 Tier4-5 items a map on decent bases but have yet to come across one actually worth any decent amount of money?

Unless you get perfect T1/T2's across the board, you might aswell just drop the item and forget about it.

99% of my wealth is purely from juiced maps and praying for divine drops and am currenty level 98 and probably about done with the league unfortunately. I would love to get a mirror but I dont fancy doing another 900 maps to have the currency to buy one.

I hope next league doesnt have such systems in place that completely negate ground loot :(

Yup, there's just sooo many cheap items on the market now that Merchants are around (items stay on the market even tho the player is no longer playing, which didn't happen last league). It seems like it's way more profitable to spend the time you'd spend on identifying and checking the loot, on doing the next map. When I filtered everything below T5 I'm making more currency, and the gameplay is much smoother.

Many bases are still good and valuable tho, like Exceptionals and some magic bases with two T1 rolls.
This late into the league it's hard to justify much of it. Even white bases for crafting, which are still some money if you craft well are diminished in value at this point unless you make it best in slot grade or undersell it by 75%+ of what it cost a couple weeks ago.

And I get it. No one needs THAT stuff anymore. They need currency or things that can be directly exchanged for currency so they can buy or afford to craft the OP stuff for themselves.

Boosting things like tiered rare drops feels excellent the first couple weeks but once the player counts drops and you have just min/maxers being a majority of players in the trade market, it just feels like screen pollution.

Imo they could maybe do something like allow disenchanting for "exalt" and "chaos" shards. So then if you have a crappy map you can load your inventory with ground trash and maybe get a chaos or a few exalt orbs back to help make it not feel like you wasted your currency crafting these maps. At this point between the tablets, waystones, omen, delirium and currency that just doing any semblance of mapping is objectively costly, time consuming, and behind a steeper knowledge barrier than before.

Or they can, you know, just stop the absolute garbage tier drops when your 90+ endgame mapping and allow for better currency and item drops to happen more regularly so people can progress their builds to the next level without just disgusting amounts of time. I like min maxing builds into the dirt but at the loot drop rates I won't make more than one character per league because of how long it takes to reach that super OP power fantasy status.
Yes absolutely

Where do you think big ticket items come from?

The trade site is not where items come from just so you know

I'm getting kinda sick of threads trying to call out the "deterministic crafting" as a problem.

Lets be honest for a minute.

The crafting in this game, in this leage, with all the omens, all the desecration bones, and the new higher orbs, still doesn't even deserve to be called a crafting system at all, let alone a deterministic one.

99.9999999999999% of player will never even be able to engage with the crafting at all, because everything you need for it is so exceedingly rare and only becomes obtainable so exceedingly late in the game, that functionally they don't exist.

And even when you do have the filthy rich Bezos level wealth to even try to craft something, the crafting process is still just rng on top of rng on top of rng.

There's no dang crafting in this game, just the loot casino, and all this update did was change the color of some of the slot machines.

To answer the titular question though, no ground loot isn't worth much of anything.
But that has nothing to do with the "crafting". The stuff that drops is just bad on it's own merit. It would still be bad if none of the "crafting" was in the game.

For most players, even with no form of crafting existing, it's still not worth picking up anything but currency, because nothing worth equipping or selling ever drops.

you do understand that exceptional bases.. drop.. on the ground.. ..right?
is it worth it yes.

do most people care ? no.

and even if more people cared, do most people understand crafting? no.

do they understand what their build needs, nevermind ALL of the builds need in order to have the knowledge to pick up things that are worth it? no

do most people who actually know what their, and other builds need, and understand crafting, and care and pick up stuff, HAVE the currency to be able to make profits wit hit? no

and then on top of all of this, do they have the knowledge of the marketplace in order to price these items at or near the correct price? no.

and the cherry ontop of all of this, is ... is the player willing to stop playing, stop mapping, make the people they are partied with stop playing, in order to take the time, and effort... to DO ALL OF THE ABOVE? most likely not.

is ground loot worth it? yes. if you can check off enough of these boxes(id say, 4 out of 6 would make it so its 'worth it'), and only then, is it.

Anything but highest base tier 5 or exceptional is a complete waste of time now. Filtered.
In my case the market has always had a small window during a league where I can even find the gear I want. Players just stop listing anything but meta after about 3 weeks. So I have to craft.

That's for PoE1 though. PoE2 just doesn't have enough build variety so the market is mostly saturated with basic gear making it hard to justify picking up items and crafting them.

If you're talking about a nice pick up and go drop. I don't think I've had that happen since Scourge. GGG has always had a problem with that outside their stupid chase Uniques.

+1

Pre-nerf Harvest league in PoE1 was deterministic.

What we have in PoE2 is gambling. No amount of omens you add to the game is going to take away the fact your next "craft" can still brick your item, wasting whatever currency you invested into it so far. It exists to be a currency sink for players who have a mirror's worth of stash wealth they're willing to blow away.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!
