Campaign length: move 50% from the critical path to optional content

There are too many secondary objectives and gimmicks that could be account-wide for the duration of the league, but the campaign itself is fine, a 50% cut is definitely not the answer.

What I think they should do, is creating unique objectives (main or secondary) for each class, so everytime you play the campaign on a different class, some quests will be different or take you to areas that would be optional on other classes.

I agree with you that the campaign feels a little too long. Once every league should be ok as it, but for more char you want to roll, you need a way to skip it somehow. I only play a character a league because of the lenghty campaign that gets boring after you complete it one time.
The campaign is my favourite part of the game. I suggest we add an additional chapter to it with each league.
Bear in mind any content that has a reward that is a character upgrade is mandatory main objective content.

It doesn't matter if some boss is behind a side quest in a side area you could bypass, if that boss provides passive points, or spirit, or stats, it's an obligatory boss in a main quest, main zone, main content.

In order to make campaign "shorter" by distinguishing main and side content so players have the choice to only do main, is to make it so side content offers no rewards that matter.
But then the side content wouldn't matter, so what would be the point in doing it anymore?
Plus if you're skipping size zones eventually you're going to be under leveled for the main zones.

So, you're casual player and you want endgame fast, right?
Screw all these no-lifers who can sit and play and are the foundation of playerbase, they don't matter, right?

You have 4 months to play a league, are you sure it is not enough time for you to do all the activities you desire?

For most players, 4 months is in fact not enough time to do all the content they desire.
They don't have enough time available for playing games, and even if they did, they want to play more than just the one game with the time they have.

They still want to beat the campaign, get through all map tiers, reach level 100, fight all the pinnacles, etc.
But they physically can't because the league ends before they have the chance.
You can cut down on 50% of the campaign time by skipping the optional stuff already.

24 Skill Points
100 Spirit
+1 Charm Slot
Increased Life
Increased Mana
25% increased Stun threshold
30% increased recovery from flasks
15% to all elemental resistances
Ascendancy
Reforge Bench

but why would you?
Who the hell wants to do fewer bosses lol.
What's the goal here, sprint past everything, while killing as little as possible, and maximizing loading screens? Does that actually sound FUN to you?

This CRAP is just a poorly concealed pitch for campaign skipping.

How is 4 months not enough to finish the campaign, brother, what are you talking about.
Campaign is 10h, 20h if you're slow. Then you are at level ~65 and start mapping.
getting to ~85 is decently easy, up to 20h if you're slow.
Then it is mostly polishing your build, so crafting and finishing up the atlas - Indefinite. Let's say another 20h for getting your personal goals.
That's 60h.
You cannot play for 60h in 4 months, why do you play?

Level 100 is not a goal for most people. Even if they think it is. It is not, they are just not aware of it. Everything else is easily achievable in that time frame.

That’s only true if you pick a build from a build guide. If you try to play without a guide and just try your own thing (as someone that doesn’t have 1000s of hours in poe) the campaign is easily 30-40 hours because you already spend 5+ hours in total looking at skills and gear.

I’ve even did playthroughs with experienced players and even then we also didn’t finish the campaign within 20 hours. You’d think that with 4 people you’d blast through it, but the act bosses get some exponential health scaling making them virtually impossible. It’s been consistently impossible to kill them in 4 player games, but then we all kill them on the first try solo.

Anyhow, on top of the actual duration of the campaign, it feels like a slog when you have things like Waterways where you can’t teleport/jump across the gaps, which feels like terrible game design

I didn't say finish the campaign.
I said beat the campaign, get through all map tiers, reach max level, kill all pinnacles, etc.

The topic at hand was and is "do ALL the activities you desire".
A league should be long enough that the average player, which is someone who barely gets to play, has enough time to do all the content they want, even if that means all content.

And on top of that, there are in fact a lot of people who *cannot* put in 60 hours, the number you tossed in, across 4 months.
Those players should still have a chance to get through everything.
