Architect one shotting?

Keep trying until he not using that skill before you kill him.

And may be you weren't so lucky to get on your skin exactly this attack, more likely not attack, bug. I didn't get it for a weeks and met again. I'm sure it's not intended work this way. Same shit was with mobs in 1-st season, don't remember their name, it's robots with 3 legs, looks like a cone, attack with tesla lightning. They just annigilated 90% resistances and ~2500hp with their attack in a second, and 1 second is not a metaphor. It turned out they had a bug. 100% Penetration or something like it. And I'm sure there were thousands of GGG followers and pietistics, who convinced, it's ok and their 15000k of energy shield doesn't feel it, so it's the true way everyone needs to play.
Later these mobs were fixed and now you don't even notice them.

I was recently one shotted by his cold AOE in a level 78 temple ... I had 3500 life, 30k armour and around 70k elemental armour.

It was in HC and so quite frustrating, especially since the attack has scarce visual clues... I don't mind bosses being able to oneshot but you should be able to clearly see the attack coming and be able to avoid it.
