Wasn't worth it, was it?

All resources into PoE2 just to end up with a playerbase of 250k on a weekend with free trial.

Should have sticked to the plan of PoE 4.0

Strange post.

The people playing Path of Exile 2 who aren't playing on Xbox, aren't playing on Playstation, aren't using the standalone client and aren't using the Epic Games Store client presently have Path of Exile 2 as the game on Steam with the fourth-most number of people playing.

If you're trying to insinuate that that is unsuccessful, there are a lot of studios out there who would like to be... "unsuccessful". Particularly given that it's neither the game's first Early Access free weekend, nor the game's official release. What point are you trying to make, exactly?

Watch as they will make a worse PoE1 3.28 league to squeeze the last of players from PoE1 to PoE2 to pad that number.

Also it's 140k on steam as of today, not 250k. Playerbase literally halves in day 2, lol. Lmao even.

Oh, hey look! Another concurrent players thread where people have no clue how time zones work.

Why do people even care about that? Would it affect your personal gaming experience if there were (for example) 1 million players 24/7?

Because of unnecessary burned resources for a mid game without more success than it's predecessor. You expect that your new game will surpass the old one. But it looks really bad on day 2 already and they released their most hyped class.
Tried free weekens, enjoyed it enought to buy EA.

Worked.
For real. I paid to play, ggg can I please play?

Note: All figures below are Steam-only figures unless otherwise specified.

PoE 2's peak CCU, to-date, is 578,562. What was PoE 1's Early Access peak CCU? Looking at publicly known figures, I'd guesstimate an all-platform DAU of ~4.5 million people for PoE 2 this weekend.

If you want to know why we don't compare Early Access figures to non-Early Access figures;

Wolcen

Wolcen left Early Access in February 2020. Their peak CCU prior to February 2020 was 1,934 in March 2019.

In February 2020 they had a peak CCU of 127,542.

Last Epoch

Last Epoch left Early Access in February 2024. Their peak CCU prior to February 2024 was 40,504 in March 2023.

In February 2024 they had a peak of 258,503.

So, what can we interpret from the above? Well... apparently PoE 2 is likely to leave Early Access in February 2027 and have their peak Early Access CCU in March 2026. (I'm joking.) (But maybe...)

More seriously, there's just no grounds whatsoever for seeking to compare Early Access figures to non-Early Access figures. Regardless of whether you like PoE 2, that just isn't what a good-faith argument looks like. The numbers will diverge significantly and unpredictably. Particularly if you factor in PoE 2 being Free-to-Play with Early Access being gated behind a purchase.

When will people learn that CCU is a meaningless stat without putting it into context. I physically cringe when I see these statistics being cited incorrectly. We've been through this so many times I almost believe people know but don't care because it could look like it supports their position
The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.
