Druids are really terrible.

I'm actually amazed at the build variety that is possible with druid. Like with Oracle you can build pretty much anything but you start in the top left of the skill tree.

If you find something clunky you don't have to do that. You could do something else. There are plenty of options.
I was feeling this way, started having alot of issues after act 3 was enjoying everything having alot of fun

Its as simple as thinking outside the box, even inside the box, trying out multiple different things, I respecced a good 3-4 times and made major changes, and now im stomping through act 4 about to move on to interlude acts, you gotta dedicate time and really think, if that style of gameplay isnt for you, try out poe1

I tried the weapon swap thing with a bow or staff, then primal accounting for most of my abilities.

There are some neat combinations that can be effective for quick clearing or single target damage.

Such as wing blast with a physical area ability such as whirling assault that can cause daze quickly. This clears very fast.

But, overall, kind of like with PoE 1, when you find an ability that is just smooth and efficient and easy to use, it makes everything else seem bad. Whirling assault for example just clears so fast and scales too easily. With +skills it does more single target damage than my skills that are meant to be for single targets.

Lightning too seems to just scale so much easier for big 1-shot kills of rares and bosses. This applies to wyvern reave, staff abilities, bow abilities, etc. Crit + shock magnitude does a lot of damage.

Ah, attack based swapping. I was trying to get things like Fire Storm, Lightning Storm and similar then jump into animal form, go ham and return but the Infusion system is a hindrance.

I tried to settle for non-infusion spells but it just has too much friction. There's very counter intuitive nodes for druid like "Gain Arcane Surge after being in animal form for 8s" while the other few that support attack/spell interactions are all "Recently" aka 4 seconds.

I've found Druid the easiest campaign experience I have had so far(in Act 3 so far as Druid) and the only class I haven't got to endgame is Ranger.
It's been fun too.

perfect example of saying your a noob without saying your a noob

do simulacrum level 3 solo with druid.

if u do it, ill quit gaming.
I get the frustration, honestly. I have been running Druid since early access too and the clunkiness is real, especially with form swapping and animation lock early on. It feels like you are constantly fighting the character instead of the monsters.

That said, I do think some of the pain comes from tuning rather than the core idea. Once I invested heavily into cast speed and reduced form cooldowns, it started to feel playable, but that is a big ask compared to other classes that feel smooth much earlier. The power spike also feels way later than it should.

I would not say the concept is bad, but right now the execution needs work. If GGG wants this to be a complex class, it still has to feel rewarding and responsive. Hopefully the feedback lands, because in its current state it is hard to recommend over almost anything else.

Simulacrum is a pile of garbage and no metric if a build works or not.
+1
No money until, GGG fix melee.
