Fix your rules

you COULD contact ggg or the admin who muted you and appeal to get unmuted (if its permanent).
i cant recall if i've been put on probation in the forums before but usually in such things they give a timed ban/mute. but on another hand. you do have a point. its not explicitly stated that you cannot promote trade/services on global. it is valid. its not stated in the rules. BUT. its more of an unspoken rule. you know trade chat exists. what do you think trade chat is for? you failed a wisdom check and now you're complaining about it. honestly i dont think you'll gain much sympathy here. what you've done is cross the river while a bridge is noticeably nearby and getting upset when the authorities shout at you. " That's a terrible argument. It is self-evident. Neither the Code of Conduct nor the Terms of Use explicitly say doxxing people is against the rules. If someone complained about moderation stemming from doxxing somebody else, would you employ the same logic? I haven't checked e.g. death threats are explicitly forbidden. Everyone understood perfectly well 1) that there are trade-specific chat channels, and, 2) that they are not to "disrupt forum or chat use for others". And then, when we specifically elect to leave the trade chat channel, we have to deal with people essentially spamming us. Then to wriggle out of the punishment those people show up with a porous and bad-faith claim they did nothing wrong. If you knowingly and willfully acted in a way such that moderation was reasonably foreseeable, and then you are subjected to moderation, them's the breaks. People should be held responsible for their decisions. Rule lawyering should not be entertained. GGG do not offer first-party Technical Support.

" did you just read up to the point you quoted me and lash out? coz i did point out that despite that fact, he should have known and still needs to be held responsible. [Removed by Support]

" No. " You said - and I quote - "you do have a point". I responded because I disagree. You also encouraged them to formally appeal the moderation action, but I digress. GGG do not offer first-party Technical Support.

" ok then, i just wanted to make sure because your stance sounds aggressive so i wanted to make sure. law aside, POE as a game is very explicit with its wording. the law too is very explicit. you interpret promoting sales in a non trade channel as "disrupting"? what constitutes as disrupting? that is subjective. not explicit. doxxing is against the rules, if someone doxxed, it can be clearly defined. but disrupting on the other hand is very subjective. people post stuff like the golden hand job. its distracting and is arguably disruptive. especially when some others would chime in. why are people not being muted for that? sometimes i ask things on global. but someone else just talks about something else. some kind soul whispers me the info i need. can i say the other people disrupted my conversation? like it or not, lawyers exist because the law works on rule lawyering. poe itself rule lawyers a lot. sometimes weird mechanics/behaviours exist such as a gem gaining a new tag because you used a specific support gem. weird but it happens all thanks to strict obedience to rules set. and with those strict rules, exceptions may arise. also people make mistakes OR do not know the gravity of their mistakes. that is why appeals exist. loopholes exist even in real life. sometimes people get away with murder because of em. you dont like it, its fine. not liking doesnt change anything. the matter of fact is OP has a point. its not explicitly stated that we cannot promote trade in global chat. and to that i would state he CAN appeal. and he SHOULD if he feels strongly about it. you are critical of him, but so am i. the only difference is i can objectively see that he does have a valid point. he can argue on that point. and any appeal reviewer COULD just reject his point with valid reasons such as what you mentioned. "everyone should have understood". OR they could be sympathetic and unmute him and perhaps give him a warning. but that is not for us to decide. we dont make the rules and we dont have any enforcement power. disagreeing with me does nothing. " He does not have a valid point. If he's a first-time offender he'd have received a short penalty of maybe 30 minutes at most, and he'd have learned his lesson from that. But he's here, complaining about having been hit in the face after stepping on a rake. The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

You have an account since 2013, how long have you been playing PoE?
How hard is it to accept that, trading on global just isn't accepted by the majority of players? Why do you think the 25ex joke was born? Precisely because of people like you. Regardless of it being a written rule or not, you will be ridiculed and trolled, and eventually reported and muted (as it happened). Stop over complicating things. Trade chat exists, use it. And avoid trade offers or price checks on global. Pff, who even plays Standard?

" Wasn't my intention! " Prior to posting I had checked both the Code of Conduct and Terms of Use. Admittedly, I didn't read every last line of the latter - I mostly relied on Ctrl + F searches of likely keywords. If you have found an explicit rule pertaining to doxxing, could you please point me in the right direction? " Rule lawyering is a specific term for those in online spaces who disregard the spirit of the rules to focus exclusively on the letter of the rules in order to find gaps. I think the term fits this thread rather well. " What is the logical inference of there being trade-specific channels that people can choose to leave? I'm happy to accept that you regard the OP as having a point. But I don't agree. :) GGG do not offer first-party Technical Support.
