Instant death on Journey's End, END OF HC

I feel you op but let be honest here...you won't fall asleep playing SC in PoE2, trust me, Diablo 2 is a joke in comparison, HC in D2 is much more manageable and the content is MUCH easier then PoE2 so I invite you to play SC in PoE2, you won't regret it...there's a lot of unfair deaths in this game, you'll thanks me for abandonning HC. Basically PoE2 is hardcore mode by default on many levels, the real hardcore mode is nothing but a trap in this game.

*plays hardcore*
*breaks first rule of hardcore*

first rule of hardcore is if you get easily frustrated at dying to things out of your control, don't play hardcore, it's not for you.

I am sincerely sorry that you had to experience hardcore like that, I still don't think it's fair what happened to you.

This is why I do not play hardcore.. I'm too much of a wimp :D

I respect you for even trying, but I think you should play softcore and become one of us.

P.S. harcore has always been a trap, you lose your character on death , just so many random things can happen out of your control, especially seeing as it's also online,

you have to pray everything always goes perfect in hardcore and have 3 back up plans and than still pray cuz even with all the back up plans in the world, the servers might just up and hiccup and kill your hardcore character just like that.

I see a lot of people took my last post the wrong way, or perhaps I didn't explain myself clearly enough.

I am really enjoying Hardcore, and I think the game is already polished and balanced enough to be a very enjoyable HC experience. If you check the player counts, it's clear a lot of people feel the same way.

I just felt the explosion mechanic on the ship at Journey's End was unfair because it is unintuitive for a HC experience. I don't see an upside to having a mechanic like that in the game, and it briefly ruined an amazing experience for me.

At the time it felt unfair, but I have since started SSFHC and it's a totally new and exciting experience. I’m enjoying the game so much more now that I’m actually glad I died when I originally posted this. Gotta love how life works!

Also, thanks to everyone suggesting I play Softcore. I can see how it could be a lot of fun, but once you get hooked on playing HC, you can never go back. I just don't enjoy the game knowing that a mistake won't cost anything. I grew on 90s and games were much more punishing and tough to go through back then, at least for me, that might explain why so whatever you are enjoying, that's better for you I guess.
Yeah you gotta watch out for that ship exploding . Saw another guy die in HC yesterday to the ship going boom. It sucks but you know what they say: "every kick in the a*s you receive is another step forward".
Good luck in your journeys !
Probably shouldn't ignore the countdown that appears on screen, aswell as your character saying something along the lines of "it's about to blow!" there's also the fuse lines on the ground slowly snaking towards the bombs.

For someone that plays hardcore, you're not very aware.
If you mean the exploding ship - there's barrels before it that explode. There's a trail of gunpowder to the barrels in the ship. There's a big timer popping up to the top of your screen when you trigger the countdown for the explosion.

I mean, it is kind of obvious, if you pay attention to the environment.

That being said - it also feels tad bit buggy. I died on HC on it my first time in the area as well. I saw the signs and triggered the timer and ran off the ship.

I waited a full screen away. I didn't hear an explosion, so I decided to wait a bit more, just in case. Then I carefully inched closer to the ship to see what happened - like I thought that if it wasn't an explosion, maybe it spawned something else or smthing.

Then when I was at the edge of the ship, it exploded and I died. That certainly felt like a BS way to go on HC.

Back then I did a topic about it, and that was months ago. I've seen more topics since then. I guess it's not something GGG plans to address. So for now I've just not stepped on the ship at all.
