XP loss should only be for the XP gained in that map

How do you have gear so good you'd need multiple mirrors for an upgrade yet you keep dying?

Yeah i know why, he has anormal class with a normal build and not the 4 o 5 broken meta builds with mana and ES.
Only meta builds can be tanky? That's news to me considering meta is built for efficiency, not tankiness.
Why do you keep assuming I'm constantly face-planting? I'm arguing the death penalty is too harsh when it's stacked on top of the XP gain throttling. Those two together are the real problem.

Also, "tanking" isn't my issue. Time is. After I respecced a bit, I basically stopped dying. Great. I'm still staring at the same glacial XP bar because the system turns 90-100 into a part-time job where the pay gets worse every level.

And yes, those last points matter. A lot. People keep waving them off like they're decorative trim, but they are literally build-defining for plenty of setups. If 90-100 is "just a flex", then make it a flex mechanically and stop handing out real power there. Otherwise don't pretend it's optional vanity.

On the currency/gear angle - sure, I'll own it. I flip the market. Roughly 50 div a day for 10-15 minutes of effort. It's not rocket science. But that actually highlights the mismatch here. Gear progress can be solved with smart economy play or trading. XP progress can't. It's just time, and then sometimes the game punts you backwards because a puddle clipped your toe or the screen turned into a VFX smoothie.

I don't have the time (or interest) to grind like it's a second job. If that's the intended design, fine - I'll just go play something else. I'd rather PoE2 reward courage and testing your limits than train everyone to tip-toe through safe, boring content because one dumb moment can delete hours of progress.

Keep a death penalty if you want. Just stop making it a flat, outdated tax that punishes experimentation and time-limited players more than it rewards "skill".
You apparently have gear worth hundreds if not thousands of divines but you don't have time to grind?
It would be a good thing not to lose any XP when you get revived by allies (in MP, of course).

Generally, I think XP loss can be a punishing mechanic, so perhaps reduce the base amount of that.
This is my first time playing PoE2 and I got to lvl 100. I can't see where the problem would be. Is is annoying? Sure. Is it a problem? Not really.
