How common is it really for people to not reach t15 maps onward

I have never felt endgame is worth playing much. I have previously only got to around T10 or so and didn't want to continue. 0.4 is the first time I have got to T15s. I still think endgame needs plenty of work so I don't have too much desire to push really hard into endgame until it is much more developed.
Goals change player to player.

Some people just like to complete content or hit some challenges. They see everything the new league has to offer, get bored, leave, come back next league. These people usually also follow a guide or meta-build or try to figure out a path-of-least-resistance to their goals. Sometimes that goal is t15 maps, or a pinnacle boss, or bosses, etc.

Some people really enjoy the puzzle-solving aspect of building a strong and capable character. Maybe they just jump straight into the deep-end and go homebrew all day every day. Maybe they start with a guide or build to learn the ropes and then try out some of their own ideas. Maybe they have a specific goal in mind - like a build that can farm Arbiter, or the Trials. They usually only get bored once they feel like there's nothing fun to "solve" - which in this game, can sometimes take a long time depending on the player's preference of things they find fun. Usually something like t15 maps is more of a benchmark for these players, rather than a goal.

And other people want to see how high/far they can get in hardcore or ssf or maybe just in general, continuously refining and min/maxing a build over the long term. That 95-100 grind is not for the faint of heart, or casual players. Those ones have a project/goal and are working towards something lol.

As far as how many players reach t15+, I would say that most players are likely campaign players, and that most of the people who visit a forum like this to discuss the game are players who go beyond just completing the campaign.

So im not a vet i only played poe1 for like 30 hours so poe2 is my first real poe game and I was under the assumption that over 90% of people reach red maps and atleast kill t1 pinnacle bosses seeing ive had no problem as casual player.

With that in mind ive been seeing alot of people as of late saying they are on t12 etc or stuck in the acts still and it got me wondering what's the % of the playerbase that doesent reach t15-16s etc is it more than 20% ? If anyone gets any insite id love you hesr

I think you are off, not by a bit, but by a full order of magnitude.
I don't think it's something we can know for PoE2 yet. We got some stats but they don't tell much on this topic.

That said, we have some stats for PoE1, and that can put things in perspective :

PoE1 steam achievements

Examples :
- 49% steam players killed Brutus (Act1 boss)
- 25% killed Dominus (Act3 boss)
- 15% killed Depraved Trinity (Act9 boss)
- 6% socketed 2 voidstones in the atlast (out of 4 total)
- 3% defeated Maven

So no, there is absolutely no chance 90% killed a pinnacle boss.
It's way more likely to ask if 50% of players ever opened a map after the campaign, and even that could very well be off already.

It kinda sounds the same when you can read "I"m a casual playing 2 hours a day". You are not in the percentile you think you are, casuals play 1h a week, if even.
