I doubt that anyone defending the Chaos damage in the game or claiming to have never died to it has.

Or its possible that these people have no clue what chaos damage is, and they've died to it enough times but dont realize what it is.

Also regarding gear, you absolutely WONT have yet acquired enough chaos resist passives on your gear before you get to merciless Chamber of Sins or Act 3 sewers.

Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress.
I didn't read the 10 pages, just want to say that I totally agree with the OP. Chaos damage is one of the things that's currently hurting the game. It's just not fun.

It was fine before open beta, except for the classes that had little ways to mitigate it. They fixed that with the chaos resist passives, mods and amethyst flasks. They put just the right values on these chaos mitigation methods. But yet they shot themselves in the foot by making an un-needed chaos resist penalty.

And that's why there are people doing exactly otherwise and doing maps on merciless hardcore. But you are too chicken shit to see it. Then you waste people's time. Don't care about the time you're wasting. Persist on recycling your jaded thoughts on these forums. Wonder why people keep telling you that you're wrong time after time again.

Erm, thats kind of my point, I want to specify damage only. Why cant I successfully play a damage only character when so many other people can successfully play HP only?

Maps come AFTER Merciless mr Noobychickenshit.

Maps = endgame, Merciless = just before endgame.

And again, you havnt even beat cruel difficulty yet.

Its entirely to do with chaos, if you dont take HP passives, that chaos damage on merciless finishes you off before you can even blink. ... If you can even get to Merciless anymore without a single HP passive, I know I cant.

HP = Chaos damage.

The original post specified that life stacking or CI are the only way to survive Chaos damage, read that a bit better then maybe you will understand how discussing HP nodes is relevant to this thread.

Chaos damage originally was the non-resist-able element, now its just out of place... Probably should segregate it from poison damage too.
