3.1 Map sustain is beyond awful.

I dont disagree at all. It is frustrating, and isnt "fun".

Unfortunately the GGG way is to nerf. Period.

I'm having fun while easy mode sustaining Shaped Vaults. Getting ready to sell off another 100x Shaped Vault at 12c each. All luck right? :D[/quote]

All hail. Yes, you're awesome at POE. Your mother must be proud.

You do get that you are part of a .1%, if that, that realllllly gets how to get the most out of this game? Most of us who play a lot, myself included who has put a TON into this game, never get to the point of your amazingness. And our fun is very hindered because they balance the game around you.

I get that you are here to troll, and tell the 99.9% that they are bad.

Now you are just being childish again. Anyway, your fun is hindered only by yourself. By the stubborness displayed in this topic and all the others page after page. Nobody really cares about how to sustain map pools, they just want free stuff.

Gonna say it 1 more time. Sustaining red maps takes investment. That's all. Keep complaining all you want, keep pretending somehow I know some secret strats or are just plain lucky. You aint getting red map returns? You aint investing enough.

You came here bragging, but offered no advice...

I run Bloodlines mod on all of my red maps, and try to do sextants when I can afford to.

Me and many others have tried on many many occasions to provide advice and assist. You can even whisper me ingame if you want me to have a look at what you are doing. But like I said, people don't even want advice, they are bend on map drops are shit, buff them.

Its either this or people thinking they are entitled to run toptier content 24/7.

As long as you manage to stay in red maps - its fine, dont you worry.
All it takes from here is patience or currency.

Grind it out (and Im not talking about a supersmall sample sizes like 100 red maps completed) or buy maps.
Either way, you wont get it for free.
And btw: map drops are fine.
To be fair, this is the first time in ever that the meta became "sustaining a t14 map".

Every previous league was shaped t11/t12 (which is what i did anyway since vaults bores me to death).

I have no issues with shaped mausoleums and dunes. I have tons of maps.

I don't think the issue is "map drops are awful"... the issue is that power levels are so high that people feel as if sustaining T14/T15 should be as easy as it is to sustain T11/T12s. I don't think this will ever be the case.

I spent 5 exalts reshaping my atlas to t12s and boy am I glad I did it. Knowing that it takes sextants to sustain T14s = late league sustain nearly impossible.

Sextants get too expensive at the end of the league when everybody hoards them and sellers are not as prevalent. There is no way it makes sense to shape vaults, etc for the average player.

17 maps? unbelievable! 17 maps to be 1/3rd into the end-game? blasphemy!

guys - before you complain, please list your expectations and what you actually do to get there

17 maps.. im speechless

what i expect is: people have really bad builds, 100% leveling glass cannon, somehow zerged trough the kitava around lvl65, have no life, bad resists, some damage and they start doing maps. first map, rolled, murdered by 3 white dropbears, left the map (one already wasted) and then roll them very carefuly to not be dangerous (and ofc skip 'bad layouts' because recently beggars ARE choosers) and get like 5% pack size on a blue map

not a surprise maps not drop

Oh c`mon.

Although this is my leaguestarter, but I entered maps with army of minions and good defences: 4 kitavas heralds specters with gmps are only enough to wreck things, but also have 2 golems, 10 zombies (20q lvl 19) with violent dead jew + even srs and skells.. And having 3.5k life+2k ES +MoM of 2k mana.. resists wasnt capped but np with that in whities. All 3labs done.

I`m not the first day in poe so know what im doin and sain.
And I remember how in was last 2 leagues.

And yes, "im speechless", but suppose, in different matter.

The problem is not the amount of map drops it is the way that you now have to do specific maps for war. Add that to the annoyance of no longer having the orbs from last league and it equals some frustration. Me I just buy the maps I need as I need them. As my collection have become more extensive, this is happening less and less. That is the way it always was with last league being an anomaly.
Censored.

Tell that to several of my guildies and myself who are investing large amounts of currency to buy maps to run. I'm not arguing that you can't obtain maps by investment because I am investing. So are many of my guild, please for one second remove the pedestal of elitism and self entitledness from the debate because we're not just talking about the 1% here, I've been head long into this league since it began, already dropped shaper and completed the Atlas weeks ago so, it's absolutely nothing to do with investment. This is probably one of the most complained about topics I've seen in nearly a year of patches. I'm saying the drop rates have been hit too hard and it's killing the "fun" I don't want too and neither do half of my guild, want to sit around buying maps off people. The end-game content does not need to be gated behind a fixed economy where again 1% of the player base make bank off everyone else and the community becomes more and more divided.

END GAME CONTENT SHOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR PLAY. Without the need to spent half of my waking life working for it, I can't even begin to imagine how this game feels to casual players. Map content should be self sustainable, I spent nearly a week with 157/157 maps getting the same drop rates as shaping my Atlas. If GGG puts in content that is intended to create map sustain but then contradicts this by nerfing what helps map sustain, they instantly kill any kind of incentive to complete the Atlas or keep running end game content.

I understand maps need an economy, it's had problems in the past but not this bad...
The "you need to invest" crowd look right past the obvious; gating content behind RNG instead of difficulty is an odd design choice.

There are lots of good things about POE. But, gating end-game content behind RNG is not one of those good things.

Telling people "play by the rules" when the rules are the problem comes across as a bit of an odd thing to do.
Now that prestige classes will finally leave lab in 4.0, will GGG get it right this time or will they find new ways to repeat old mistakes?
