Blackjaw is a garbage boss, one shot mechanics shouldn't exist in any game.

"
Killed it on 2nd try on my first playthrough, and first try on subsequent playthrough.

And no, one shot mechanic should exist. If you see someone yelling and signaling "IM GONNA HIT YOU SO HARD, YOU ARE GOING TO DIE IN 1 HIT IF YOU TAKE THIS HIT. STAND AWAY OR DODGE IT (or do the intended mechanic to stop the attack)" , and you stand still and just dps-ing then took the hit, you deserved to be one-shotted.

BaumisMagicalWorld#0673 Included video in this thread that nicely showing the issue with this boss.

You can hide behind pillar and the attack still hit you, attack tracking is also annoying, you can roll behind boss when boss doing third swing and the attack will still track you.

He can do his attack off screen and it will still kill you, the distance between you and boss doesn't matter.

To kill him you should be close to him all the time, but sometimes boss will be to close to the wall or he do his fire balls attack if he perform his three slam attack after that sequence, you are dead.

So in summary, what you are trying to say "I played op character and I didn't even interacted with boss mechanic, here is my super guide how to beat a boss"

Literally no clue what the problem with this boss is. Took me a few tries but the only thing that killed me was just randomly failing to dodge his overhead swing. Everything else seemed perfectly fine.
Killed the boss a few times with melees and ranged on 20 FPS and high ping, had no problem. One of the easiest bosses in the game.
I also kind of like the one shot mechanics, I dont think a well-built character should be able to stand still and kill everything

No, what we're trying to say is that you don't understand the boss (yet) and you should work on actually learning the encounter rather than throwing bodies at him hoping you get it right by accident.

As for "hiding behind pillar doesn't block his sunder attack," I mean... duh? His sunder doesn't travel through the air, it travels through the ground. Why WOULD a pillar block it?

Again: use your brain, learn the fight. PoE2 is very much about actively engaging with the mechanics, it's a very different game than PoE1.
I have to fully agree: The hitboxes of the triple slams (the third slam) are not all matching their visual cue and impact. As a huge Soulsborne enjoyer I am usually very quick at picking up the right timing but his triple slam is most definitely bugged. His initial single hits are completely fine and easy to dogde but his triple slam is insane. It will even oneshot you if you are off screen. I am specifically referring to the third slam of the triple slam!
Even when you are at the bottom of the stairs and he is on the elevated level his triple slam will kill you.
In the end I had to cheese him by hiding behind the pillars, although even there the placement had to be absolutely perfect. And to all players boasting about killing him in one or two tries: Obviously your build is too strong to engage with the specific mechanics of this fight. Also, I love a challenge but it is only fun doing if the gameplay works as intended as in hitboxes actually matching their visual cue.
Edit: Sorry for double post. Pls delete this one

Queen of Filth is even worse and not even optional lol. I'm done for now, revisit in a couple months. Shit's not fun.

Because the pillars are not floating in the air? They have a structure deep in the soil, like every architecture structure. So yes, it should block it, columnt should get destroyed first and game character should only feel some earth movement and don't take any damage.

But maybe I am thinking to much about it.

PS. I beat a boss, it's still a bad design.

The hitboxes are fucked for this. And he pivots after the initial animation so its hard to time the meme roll. Just gonna have to come back to it when Im over leveled and have more fire resist.
Fuck this game
This boss absolutely needs adjusting. The 3rd attack on his triple slam feels impossible to dodge. The game just gives you no feedback whatsoever about when you're supposed to dodge and that 3rd attack will track you all the way across the room from any angle.
