I'm in the exact same boat as you and feeling handcuffed. I stopped playing tbh. I'm not asking for free respecs just lower the cost a bit. I'm ok with farming for a couple hours to get enough gold, but not dozens. Everyone is born a king, and most people die in exile. If a respec means tons of wasted time, I will likely look up a guide try to follow it, get bored realizing I'm just imitating the guide author, and eventually quit, just like I did with PoE 1. Well we just now lost 4 out of 9 of my friends Reason: "My build is trash and i keep dying randomly" not quite a reason regarding respecing but i asked why dont u wanna respec response "fuck that i dont have gold anyway" he was pretty mad when responding ;p His progress act 1 cruel and he is out. No matter what the state of respec people will follow a guide if they want to. Whether because it is meta, or because respeccing is so costly, you can't afford to not be following the meta from the start else brick your character. People if given the choice will go the path of least resistance, and if respeccing is costly then people will just opt to not make mistakes from the start thereby falling into the same end result anyway.
