Why dedicate my time if I can lose all my XP with a death penalty?

As for map portal attempts, if you die you should be able to reenter a map with no enemies for the sake of looting what you already killed, and if multiple attempts per map exist you can also tune down the rewards from the map.

I personally do not agree with this, even if the xp loss is completely removed the "loss of map" and everything that comes with it could stay and that's a separate discussion overall at that point I guess haha.

It looks like a fair 'punishment' to me, which isn't really a punishment at that point.

You "died" ( bug or no bug, let's no debate this atm ) and whatever was not in your pockets simply isn't yours to take, it makes a bit of sense being like that. It's fair since you don't lose anything else "on your character" in my opinion ( I mean if the xp thing is removed ).

Just my 2c on that :) .

You are the kind of person buying a ticket to a concert, then getting drunk at its bar, vomiting everywhere, and passing out. Then, after coming back to your senses, you ask the manager to refund be your ticket because you didn't see the concert ; and as that doesn't work, you go complain to the police that there was alcohol in the beer and that people drugged you.

Is it :

The manager's fault ?
The band's fault ?
The beer's fault ?
The police's fault ?

Or your own fault ?

Try solving this mystery.

Dang, I thought you could have solved this one. If this seems too hard for you, then why should I expect you to understand my argument ? There is like 500 pages among 10 topics over the last 10 days in the feedback forum with a whole bunch of people telling you why XP penalty exist, but I guess you can't navigate it and read, if you can't answer a simple question.

Yeah that can happen, I tried to include as many solutions as possible of what I read over time.
This is currently wanted because of how volatile content is so even attempting to loot can be risky.

Half of these pages are you insulting people and repeating something that has been argued about with proper solutions that satisfy all sides except your own ego. You just keep repeating yourself like a broken mix tape.

What I see are countless people complaining about the penalty and some old fans worried about how others will play.

GGG, just make it configurable!

Haha that literally just happened to me, on almost reaching 92. Went to grab a unique ( I managed to get it ) but while I was checking my bag with a seemingly 'empty screen' one of those usually "kind of offscreen" dudes with the fire meteors just 1-shot me ( fully res capped + CI with 7k shield, everything gone in 1 go bleep ).

And well, the unique is a double as well so... bummer haha.

Your idea, which has been mentioned multiple times, is regressive. It punishes those at lower levels more than it does those at higher levels. You can gain multiple levels in a single map, imagine the bitching it would cause if a death made you lose 3 levels.

True, but the system right now punishes players in high levels exponentially. The more time and efforts you invested, the harder the punishment. There is no way to call this motivating.

Exactly! 10% in the high levels can be hours of gameplay! Complete waste of time.

GGG, just make it configurable! Let me play again!

what would you suggest to replace this penalty with if it is removed?

My idea ( which is a post of it's own somewhere in like the 15th forum page or more by now I guess haha ) was to simply create an extra mode.

Similar to how Standard and Hardcore exists they can make a "Softcore" without any punishments at all.

Having simply an "option" within Standard gives advantage over other players so that's not nice either.

With an extra mode, everyone plays in their own lane/league and everyone is happy as they don't have any advantage over anyone else.

It shouldn't be that difficult as well development wise, there's already 4 choices if we include the SSF options, what's 2 more :) ? To clarify, I'm not saying it can happen like magic, but talking as a developer, it's definitely doable if they want it.

What saddens me is that there are several options. Extra mode, map cap, global game configuration, etc. The incredible thing is that it is ignored by GGG while players abandon the game.
