Due to the lack of arguments and the mindset stuck in the past on the part of the veterans, it makes me realize that POE2 is destined to be POE1 and will never have the same number of players as its competitor. Poor GGG, 10 years to relaunch POE1.

Half of these pages are you insulting people and repeating something that has been argued about with proper solutions that satisfy all sides except your own ego. You just keep repeating yourself like a broken mix tape.
Bruh, you are upset about dying on a video game, of course anyone disagreeing with you feels like a insult, even if it isn't one.
You want solution for something that isn't a problem.
Yes, when you suck in a game, you die. That happens. And in some games, there is consequences for failing.
Do you know Minecraft ? One of the best game in the world. Well, when you die, you lose 100% XP, 100% of your gear, and 100% of your inventory. Is the game bad and hated for that ? Nah, it just how it is. And it's a game made for 8 years old. I wonder how they survive such painful and traumatizing loss.
You are telling me that in a game made for adults and experienced gamers, losing 10% XP of your actual level and the entry ticket to an already farmed and looted map is a gigantic problem ?
You can deflect all day saying that people refusing this proposed change are masochists or have ego problems ; when in truth, you are the one complaining because you died and refuse to admit you failed. There is nothing more to it.
Umm in Minecraft you can just literally go back to where you died and pick up everything. XP loss half but it's super quick to get XP back and you can easily make XP farms...
The problem with how the XP loss works in PoE2 is that it can forever stop you leveling. It isn't about it making it take longer, but potentially forever. Getting stuck and losing all progress will turn people off, especially casual players with less play time. Do you think someone will keep trying to level if they never actually make progress? One death causes them to lose days or even a weeks worth of play time?
It doesn't help PoE2 is currently full of one-shot off screen attacks, or one-shot invisible/hidden ground effects, or one-shot obscured by other effects attacks. The only thing that should have the possibility of one shoting you is a boss.
Oh, stop with this bullshit. Unless you are playing 15 minutes a day no death, at any level, is costing you weeks of play time.

this ain't some blizzard trash game: this is a game with actual potential and purpose behind difficulty.
Xp loss isn't difficulty, it's just a set back, the game is not 'difficult' at all it's as simple as any other game when you learn the mechanics.
As for why people always say that Blizzard is trash, yet you also argue that this is a D2 successor when, you know who made it, Blizzard ( even if that team doesn't exist any more ) you're kind of making no sense.

Quality > Quantity
Some people actually enjoy playing games that are more than just brain dead idle clickers.

+1
The least they could do is make them a toggle either in the atlas tree with extra rewards if you opt-in to these penalties. Or literally on character creation as checkboxes, but you still share the same softcore trade league economy with everyone else. Or as options in the settings menu. Anything.
I'm also never touching this game unless big changes are made to death penalties, I play Softcore, I shouldn't be punished for dying as if its in Hardcore. This is simply unacceptable.
If it was GGG's intention to chase away many players and make them quit with these death penalties, then they've accomplished exactly that.

if you can't handle the pressure, your loss!
wtf is wrong with this era of gaming where everyone gives up at the mininal sign of struggle or difficulty? why do people need to get an easy free ride to any content "because whaaaa whaaaaa too hard!!"?
absolutely maddening and baffling.
100% of you babies never played actual difficult games, and it shows lol
You're heavily confusing difficulty with punishing.
Can you even point out a difficult endgame encounter? It's just on death effects, or bad rng.
Most people arent dying to difficulty or complaining about the game being hard. Theyre dying picking up loot thats hiding on death ground effects.
If it was difficult skill checks i'd understand this perspective. But theres only stat checks, and cheap on death effects.

Because without XP penalty we would all be glass cannon, playing with 0 defence. We would corpse run every aspect of the game. We would be level 100 in a week. My grand mother would be level 100 in two.
The market would crash because there would be no boss service, no xp service.
And then we would look back and say : what have we done ? WHAT HAVE WE DOOOOONE ?
Oh no, not my RMT no one cares about except those who want to profit from it, my single player game experience is ruined because I cannot trade with other players... something that is not fun to begin with!
Thank you for giving me even more reason to believe what I do.

That about sums it up. But don't go easy on GGG, they are just as much to blame for wanting to cling to antiquated design philosophies from 25 years ago... not just for XP but for a lot of things.
