Isn't respeccing way too cheap right now?

Respeccing is part of the feedback. If you see everyone changing their complete build every time there is a patch respeccing might be too cheap. If nobody is willing to respec anything it might be too expensive.

Practically free respecs makes the game feel like shit. It makes build permanence non-existent and makes people play the game differently, it makes them level differently, it makes people use certain skills less at certain phases of the game, and it makes your choices feel irrelevant.

I know we have a lot of casuals who think inconveniences are all bad and don't understand game design at all and I really hope GGG have the backbone to not just buckle to the sheer amount of posters who are wrong about everything.

I'm lvl 85 right now, and I could respec my entire character 10 times over and still have some gold left.

No, it should be free exactly for the reason you stated. Deep into the maps people get enough money to respec however they want. People on the way there need to be constantly tweaking their tree due to a lot of factors.
doesnt matter since everyone has 30 mil gold atm
"buff grenades"

- Buff Grenades (Buff-Grenades)
yo, this is early access. we are supposed to test different stuff. gating respecs behind gold only makes testing harder. i know a lot of people get that competitive itch and try a little too hard, but this is essentially a big beta test.

ps- please include a "respec all" button

Hmm. disagree I think. But agree with principle; If respec is expensive people will just revert to guides. Fully bricking a build in campaign isn't something anyone wants to repeat.

Similar with ascendency. I think there are quite a few noob taxes that aren't particularly fair, and that experienced players just don't really notice.

I'd not say free on either front by any means, I think respec is about right, maybe a bit cheap. But it's when stuff doesn't feel fair that it's going to hit people starting fresh.

Personally I like the system in Grim Dawn. Every time you respec it gets more expensive. So the first one might be 1000 gold, but the 100th time you respec it will cost you 100.000 gold. This should give you enough flexibility to experiment and make mistakes, but it will probably cost too much to respec your entire character.

No.

Do you want everyone run the same meta build? Because thats how you make everyone run the same meta build.
Respecting is half the fun of this game.

Which is good feedback to have. If everyone is respecing into something early, it might be too powerful or other things too weak. And if everyone is spec'ing into something else late, then that particular thing might be game warping.

Overall, your typical player isn't going to min/max that way, though. It's more the power gamer types, the zoomer to bes, that will. And, quite frankly, that type will respec regardless, if it is the min/max thing to do.

Especially since, once you have one high level character, you have that level of income, and that new character respec'ing while leveling is going to have respec costs based on their level of income, which will be low. But since gold is account-wide...
