zoomer meta gamer mentality ruined poe1 and will ruin poe2

One of the main reasons I quit the first Path of Exile was the zooming through maps. I got excited about Path of Exile 2 because I expected it to be a slower-paced game. I really wish it would follow that direction—drawing inspiration from Soulslike games, with meaningful character progression, calculated and deliberate gameplay, and battles where you don’t just one-shot everything on the screen, including bosses.

If any, I like pacing to be like Diablo 2. You go at reasonable pace, not too fast or too slow all over the path to hell baal. (You indeed even slower in hell) But PoE 2 as I see for now is ... both too slow at first and too fast at late.

The game also rely heavily on gear/support gem than character progression. Feel like mobile game instead of good old arpg.

D2:LoD and d2r and faster than PoE man. Terror zones means if you don’t have an enigma and play or meta build(or have a friend that does) you aren’t keeping up.

Sorry for derail.

Oh, I didn't get to D2R. Is it change that much? I don't remember when I play D2LoD that can go faster than poe unless I have well-prepare gear. I think only time that I can breeze through zone is during Nightmare with good drop. But that barely match PoE speed. Unless you teleport around which I don't use it much unless I'm in hurry.

About the zoomer or not, I do believe that GGG will change that. They quite good at hammer down. They just don't expect people to combo their new ability to be like this.
If you look at how lightning spell scaling with only skill level. You have to fight boss for good 5+ minute! Is this Monster Hunter? or Cookie Clicker?
Slow in, slow out cuz I'm just a player.
--------------------------------------------
the whole topic about "anti-zoom" is useless. the game is about making your character stronger. getting stronger means getting faster. making changes to prevent people from getting faster means you are taking away the reason to play the game in the first place. why would somebody want to stay as slow as with lvl 1? so you can dodgeroll in circles around the next deadly rabbit for hundrets of hours?

Most league mechanics in PoE1 are designed to punish you for not being as fast as possible. Even now in PoE2 doing Breach or Delirium actively punishes you if you play any kind of slow and deliberate build. You have to have turbo clear because GGG still insist on making all league mechanics time based, which translates to a DPS check. That's why I have hated almost all leagues in the later half of PoE1's lifespan. Legion, Breach, Delirium, Incursion, Abyss, Blight, are all unplayable if you're not playing some meta build focused on speed clearing, exploding mobs, chaining, what have you. If you're not doing this you cannot participate and you get 1% as many rewards as a good build.

The rest of the later leagues are all stupid mini-games that don't belong in PoE at all, like TotA, Sanctum, Ultimatum (ironically the leagues we are forced into), Settlers, harvest were all horrible horrible leagues revolving around doing other stupid minigames that has nothing to do with the game.

Unironically the best leagues in PoE1 were ones that just added items, crafting gimmicks, and mobs to fight on the maps like Exiles, tormented spirits (ass but got better later), Essences, Strongbox etc. Things you just interact with while playing the game.

While I agree that I feel punished for not zooming I think some of your examples fall a little flat.

Blight for example -- many times you can do Blight naked and just let the towers do the work for you. Sure having a powerful build is better to have with Blight than without but it doesn't rely on zooming or unusual, by PoE standards, mechanics.
Guy without a single character or achievement saying poe was to easy..... hmmmmmm

Yes and Blight also falls into the "trash minigame that doesn't belong in PoE" category. Especially so not as a mechanic gating anoints forcing you to do it.

Orrr.. and I know this will come as a shock to some. They could actually fix what is not designed well? That does not mean further dumbing down the passive tree or fixing the gem system by reverting to PoE1 gems as drops. Gems as they are currently feel very programmed and gated, very much like the devs have deliberately structured that to control it. The comments in the interviews and announcement where they stated they can't wait to see what people come up with was code words for "Please go find what we have to nerf to maintain control". Hit boxes are all over the place, dodge roll is really bad and makes me feel like my toon is drunk and should be sitting down instead of trying to roll. Base movement speed has been reduced to much for how large and terribly designed the campaign and map areas are. It does not have to be PoE1 zoom zoom, but how it is now is way off the mark. I'm not a zoomer and for most of the ARPGs I play I will nearly full clear areas a fair share of the time because that is what I like. PoE2 though has uninteresting unrewarding slog for maps and areas.

GGG emphasized how much work they put in to make sure there was lots of content including end game, and how they changed course on PoE2 development and delayed PoE 3.26 because of it. I don't see what they where actually doing. End game was slapped together with existing PoE1 mechanics and based on a bunch of the feedback it was done poorly. I believe items aren't dropping that much because it would become painfully apparent there aren't enough items and itemization in the game yet for players to progress. They have literally taken all the bad parts of PoE1 and tried to slap together a hybrid souls/d2/d3/d4/poe whatchamacallit. And they called it PoE2 when it has nothing to do with Path of Exile other than it still kind a sort maybe being the same Fantasy world of Wraeclast and boring some league mechanic and ascendancy ideas as filler.

very much 1/10. The 1 is for the Sound work. That is really above and beyond, very very near Matt Uelmen level of greatness.

It got like that in POE2 ACT 3, not the atlas. Soulslike is knowing when to dodge and pressing r1. I see no difference with these bosses except you're playing as a boss vs a boss.

Technically I pulled Blight out of the list of mechanics that were supposed to be "too zoomy".

As for Blight being a trash minigame obviously that's a matter of opinion however I'll agree that Blight does not fit in with what I'd call the "normal" gameplay loop of PoE1.

However, in trade league with PoE1, Blight is not forced on a single person. As soon as you got to maps you could farm Beasts, Essence, or a dozen other things and you'd never need to run Blight once. You'd just trade some of your hard-earned Beasts, Essences, whatever for any Blight oils you might want.

They did fix the rubber-banding issue and massive lag/latency from POE1, so that's a +5/10 to me already. Aside from the DX12 crashes... But yes, they need to tune everything to the current speed of our POE2 characters instead of our POE1 characters.
