You're making an ARPG in 2025, but you're stuck in 1999
Helping bump. All good points.
And I don't put this on the programmers doing everyday code. They are clearly capable, as you said, of making a great game, but the leadership is to stubborn to create a game. And I sent a PM to someone who liked a lot of the more punishing, heavy grinding stuff, and asked "would you care if GGG just tiered the game and created a space so both of us can enjoy the game". And what was is response? "I don't care, I'm not trying to take someone game away from them". And that is the most confusing part. GGG seems so intent on making this game ONLY for this niche market, when they don't even care. They are not incapable of sharing. Just create difficulty tiers, like games have been doing for decades, and create separate spaces so people have some control about what kind of experience they want. It makes no sense. |

" Point out which of the things I outlined in my original post would make the game less fun. Is it the tier 1 waystones dropping in juiced endgame maps? Is that fun for you? Is it identifying the items? Does that bring you joy? Or is it going back to town multiple times every map because your inventory can only hold 4 weapons? The shit called out here is anti-fun. Changing these things would make the game more fun. That’s the point of the feedback forum. To provide feedback. To everyone saying these things shouldn’t be changed, I’d love to hear your argument. Maybe you really love shitty uniques and pointless low tier maps lying on the ground? Do tell. Last edited by Blasphemous84#2190 on Jan 10, 2025, 4:10:20 PM

+1 agree.
Only ppl raging against these idea are ppl stuck in PoE1. Raging hard enough to make PoE2 a copy past of PoE1. Because that is there safe space. And they just want to change nothing. You can tell as there arguments never hold any logic or sense But are drowned in fear. |

It's a shame Devs try so hard to be Diablo 2 and miss that Diablo 1 did quite a few things better. Itemization being one of them. If you played late-game the classes also had more variety.
Weapon Swapping wasn't invented with Diablo 2. Just given a hotkey. I can't really say there were any outstanding flaws in Diablo 1. Meanwhile I can pick apart Movement Speed, Set Items, Magic Find from early D2 and further pick apart the skill synergy patch added later which turned it into a 1-2 skill game. Where players just skipped anything Immune. Diablo 2 was far more flawed than Diablo 1 despite the extra features so I don't see the point in trying to emulate either, esp D2 for any modern game. Mana should only be a thing that casters engage. For attack builds it should be an easy solve like getting a couple mana mods on the tree or gear. Attack builds are already hamstrung by accuracy. Having to solve mana on top of that is ridiculous. On my current character my mana cost is 118 while my maximum mana is 1125. (My skill gem is only lvl 18+2 from amulet btw...) It is impossible to sustain and i dont even have that much attack speed. I never run out of mana or mana flasks but constantly having to keep an eye for that is very frustrating.

Its fun until you get out of the campaign. Then all the flaws show.

what baffles me is that at it's core, the combat and moment to moment gameplay, PoE2 is as good as it gets(most of the time).
But all that gets pushed into the background once the outdated concepts start to shine through. The tedious Invenctory...the XP Loss...the gated content... And parts of the playerbase actually applaud these things cause they believe in doing so that makes them better than what they perceive as "casual" players. I have 260h since Release so I dont think I can be considered casual but still, all the things OP mentioned and some more on top of that made me put the game down again. It's game, it should be fun and beyond a certain point it just feels like a chore. |

" Thanks for the video. They're probably testing the system with a simple system like the currency exchange to increase or decrease gold prices for items. Maybe they'll add maps/waystones to the currency exchange next to test it further. Last edited by Assababud#2808 on Jan 10, 2025, 5:17:11 PM
