SSF / HCSSF feels dogshit to play
" MF is mandatory even during campaign if you want any Regal or Exalt Orbs to craft anything. Last edited by Fae_Lyth#6750 on Jan 11, 2025, 3:04:47 PM

" Which most the time is a waste of resource because the weight tier RNG system almost everytime tends to favor the worst affix/suffix possible. When it rolls a favorable affix/suffix (I said favorable, not desirable) it is in the lowest tier possible. Is pretty jarring be at level 50+ still using any item dropped/bought/slammed at level 20, because the game don't have ways to overcome it besides "luck". |

Its really not that bad. you probably get on average 20 exalts and regals from the campaign. You just have to choose wisely when you let your gear stay trash and what items need updated next. If you try to upgrade your gear every act you will not have any currency.
One thing (amongst at least a handful of things like crafting bench and adjustable runes) i wish we could get back is vendor recipes for movement speed boots and weapons. |

" HC wants to keep gear upgraded, otherwise HC dies. Instead of arguing with people who play HCSSF and disagreeing for the sake of it while it is blatantly clear you have never played HCSSF in PoE2 (= being obnoxious), I suggest trying a HCSSF run yourself in PoE2. It would make this discussion more fruitful. Last edited by Fae_Lyth#6750 on Jan 11, 2025, 3:17:07 PM

" It's not unsurmountable, for sure. But it is bad in my opinion. I don't want to rush through with easily purchased gear. Even on trade HC characters I only use my own dropped items and/or co-op with my lady. But! That would mean, I can get a few kicks out of dropping stuff through my playthrough. Please note, I've said "dropping stuff". Not "dropping good stuff". In those 7 hours of play through act 1 Cruel, I've gathered maybe 3 regals from dropped rare items and maybe 2 or 3 more from unique bosses. Which ain't great. Nor terrible, as you've said. Until... well, the whole affix malarkey comes barging in and rolling light radiuses and thorns and 12 hp and 7% resists (and the last 2 if you're lucky). So my gripe is with the experience as a whole. E.g. I dropped a ilvl 31 pair of gloves with 1 character that had better. Picked them up with this unfortunate grinder at lvl 20 (as that was the lvl req for them) and wore them from Mawdun Mines all the way to Cruel Keth where my stupidity got the better of me (facetanking a lightning enhanced beetle boss, knowing full well that my resistances were below 20%, thanks to the drop rates and "crafting" this game has). So, you're right. It's not that bad, it's just really unfun. A lot more so when in the back of your mind you know the exalts you've wasted on failed "crafting" attempts would've been more than enough to get you solid gear to push you all the way into the maps. It's unfun when something we kept asking for in PoE1 is completely missing here, being replaced with an even worse "crafting" methods array (looking at you, essences!) and an even harder focus on gearing up through trade. Which, ultimately, does tend to render SSF completely worthless for a good amount of people. It's not just the satisfaction of "Hey! I beat Doryiani with gear I picked up from Geonor's corpse" joy that we, as a subgroup of the PoE playerbase, are looking for. Some want that delicious slow and steady gear progression along with their character's adventure through the game world. Not leaps. But some progression. And some of us do invest in that, be that with currency crafting (more than we should), with MF, with incessant farming of areas. Just to get that next new, better item than what we have. And that takes waaaay too damn long during the campaign. If they'd do away with low tier affixes (T1 and T2 of those having 8 or more tiers) on Cruel - or rather lower the chance of them rolling on high req gear that isn't obtained in T15+ maps? - if MF would be balanced around the amount of MF you can reasonably stack on your gear at any given moment, if "rewarding map bosses" would drop rares more often and scrolls of wisdom less often (Tor-Gal or Tor-Gul or whatever just dropped 3 blue items and an Aug for me), I'd be a lot more happy. I found a total of 3 regal, 3 ex, 0 alc, 0 chaos in my 2 a1 clears (witch and warrior) on HCSSF.
virtually all gear found is worthless t1 rolls. I couldn't even manage to get a full set of rare gear for the build. Drop rates are horrid. There are no viable farming options. |

" T1 rolls in A1 is what you'd expect, though. Less so in A1 Cruel, but you're gonna roll them there just as often :) Alc and chaos aren't things I'm even considering when it comes to currency that can drop in A1. You have plenty of viable farming options in A1, but without MF you might as well just sell all the blues and ask Finn for help. In my entire experience playing without trading in PoE2, I'd say that it's towards the end of Act 3 when the gear you drop and/or craft is more often than not utterly useless due to those T1 rolls and trash affixes being ever present. |

SSF solution:
New equip type that is similar to a ring or amulet. It’s a figurine. You would get one during a side quest near the end of act 1. you will get a choice out of several so there would be something to suit various dif builds and play styles. You will in Act 2 start to find them as random loot drops and 3 figurines can be traded in for an unidentified figurine of the class of your choice. Example of a figurine: Monk’s Figurine of Winter- 15-30% increased chance of finding int/dex based weapons and equipment. 10-20% increased chance of finding Quarterstaffs. 10-20% increased chance that dex/int based equipment you find will favor Cold modifiers. They can come in uncommon and rare varieties. For balancing perhaps limit these figurines to 3 maximum mods with potential for a possible small passive enchantment onto them later in the game. Bonus for SSF or new SSF variant: All of these figurines would be buffed in SSF. Why this is a good idea: It would address a lot of issues that people have regarding finding a tremendous amount of loot that they do not need or want in any capacity and provide more player agency towards how we wish to play our character. If you have any ideas for this please share them here! Last edited by IcyMistV#5121 on Jan 11, 2025, 9:39:49 PM

" Its amazing how T2 starts showing up on the vendors around level 10 but virtually all drops are still T1. Lower tier affixes are overly abundant even at higher end gear. Affix rolls need to be rebalanced. |
