So angry all the time
I share your frustration!
I'm a fairly resourceful guy, and when I don't understand something, I usually study/read/research it until I have a somewhat understanding of it. But when it comes to map layouts in PoE 2, I'm blank. I can't think of a single reason what they made 'most' maps seem like they are spawned from the famous book called "How to make something as tedious as possible". If anyone can tell me what they add to the game from a mechanical/pathing point of view, I'm all ears. I could probably run Sandpits and Savannahs for several hundred hours every league and would enjoy every single second of it. But when the game forces me to run Mire/Augury/Forge/Factory/Seepage maps all the freakin' time, even my neighbor's deaf cat can HEAR my motivation to play is being drained out of my body. The game is fairly fresh, which is why I can... Endure it. But doing this every league? Not a chance, I like my sanity too much. And I get it, we'll still waiting for maps based on the tilsets of the upcoming acts (4-6), which will give us some diversity. And diversity is good and all in an EA, but once we start really sinking hours into lots of leagues, we NEED player agency over what to run. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" I stopped playing last week but it was due to not finding any citadels after like 200 maps after finding the first two about 100 maps in. At first I was incredibly annoyed at the map layouts and then I got over it and realized I hope they keep these kind of layouts but add 1 or 2 checkpoints in maps to make it less tedious. Honestly I think a lot of things are very very fixable.
- Bad map design... well... for me it is because of 2 reasons. I have to run back to kill that yellow mob (solution: make yellow mobs visible on mini map maybe within proximity of player) and i have annoying actions like pulling levers that is slow... probably 4-5 seconds waiting for each lever on map like augury. Solution: make levers fast Same with most other issues. Quality of life here (stash for maps, etc.), remove animation there (like levers), etc. And many other things as well (well... fix damage peaks, maybe add scouring orb (fix problem with bad maps and lack of maps... immediately will be more playable maps) |

" You know another reason why you are angry all the time? You don't even know what you want. At this point, neither do I. You seem to want some sort of "smart loot" system on every boss, that will drop exactly what you personally need the first time you beat a boss. This is way up there on my list of dumbest expectations from PoE 2 that I have read on this forum. You are totally and completely unwilling to grind or replay areas and bosses, even when the game is literally BEGGING you to do so. You aren't even willing to LISTEN when someone tells you to do that. You even seem to think its unreasonable for the game to require this. Instead, you rage and whine that the game is making you angry and needs to change. And you are using cope for my posts and thoughts lol...oh the irony. You are under some weird illusion that maps have a "progression system" yet the campaign does not. Excuse me, what? This is just a straight up false point you are making. Grinding t4 maps is not progressing you in any different way than if you were grinding Geonor a bunch of times before blasting through Act 2. Want to talk about goals? Grinding maps for gear, your "progression" is reaching the next tier. Grinding in the campaign, your "progression" is advancing through the campaign. There is no difference. Why should the campaign be "immune" to this same game loop. You are tilted because you adamantly refuse to change. It's like you are angry at a chess game for not being played like checkers. You also don't really appear to understand the in's and out's of RNG. Just so you know....RNG stands for "random number generator". In this context, randomized loot. If you are fighting monsters with a higher chance (no matter WHAT that chance may be) of dropping rares and skill gems, you are no longer playing with RNG. You are, in fact, forcing LESS RNG into your gameplay. That's the whole freaking point. That's why certain farming strategies are "better" than others. Less RNG. Where's my proof that bosses drop more rares and skill gems? Hmmm....let me think. From the fact that they are BOSSES, the devs have literally said they do, the datamined information shows they do, and the fact that across all 13 years of PoE 1's history, this has been the case. What do you do if you are hunting uniques or rares or skill gems? You farm bosses. You don't randomly play through the game without a brain, and leave everything to RNG chance (which is what YOU are doing). You make choices based on your current needs. This is the foundation of PoE 1, as well as PoE 2. Only difference, as I mentioned in my first post, is PoE 2 is more balanced and you can no longer blast your way through the entire story with no gear on. Yhea, this game is just frustration, a lot of waiting (to sell or buy anything you might need) and walking. No tactical decisions really in a map. Some bosses maybe. And no fun.
Remember how the first boss they remarked on how to spot attacks you could not dodge out of the dmg from? Yhea, did not use that anymore after a few bosses right. Just walk around them. The skills all auto blast or do AoE. And walk till it's death. More a bullet hell/walking simulator then a hack and slash where you need to know what you are doing. Unless with "know what you are doing", you mean a excel spreadsheet to calculate what the best stat is to get and. Very few ppl want to calculate there build to the level poE2 (and even 1) does. Just to have a build they can use to do the content with. Result, most ppl just follow a guide, even if they don't want to. Because else, you aint getting to the end content. So even the building aspect of the game is gone for most ppl. @ OP: Don't try and defend your point. The fan boys are so fanatical that most won't be able to say anything that is not just basically them saying they want PoE1 again with a new story. Just post what you have to say and never go back to it. Giving any negative comments can get really toxic really fast in PoE. Even if it are suggestions on how to make it better. @ the fanatical fan boys: PoE1 is good, but if you want PoE2 to be PoE1. Then just go back to PoE1, and let the casual players have PoE2. Because if they don't, GGG will need to spend money on both games. With the same amount of players. And they will, or scrap one of the games. Or go under. " It's funny you felt the need to write this. Because if you read any part of this thread, you would quickly realize that this hasn't even come up in any part of the conversation. But sure, go ahead and preemptively invalidate a huge population of people with feedback because it conflicts with your own. The point you made doesn't even make any kind of sense either....GGG literally advertised and wants this game to be a harder experience. It's PoE 1 that is and will be the more "casual-friendly" title. Starting anew....with PoE 2 Last edited by cowmoo275#3095 on Jan 12, 2025, 1:24:47 PM

" " " This guy is literally taking small snippets of my comments and misrepresenting them, thematically and out of context, to make his "points" lmao. If you're going to "answer" my questions with your coping logic, at the very least use my whole statement in your rebuttals. Again, just a sad tactic. And you fail to rebut any of the statements I make that are calling out your false logic because...well...you can't. So you're just cherry picking little nubs of sentences you feel like you have a stance on. Pathetic " You do understand the meaning of "random", right? Here, I'll use my lottery analogy again since you didn't grasp it the first time; Playing the lottery once gives you an equal chance to win compared to those who play it 100 times. Why? Because it's completely random and unpredictable. No matter how many times you play, you have a 1 out of X chance to win. That number never changes. THAT is what the nature of RNG is. There is no such thing as "less rng". You literally just brute force through it by running over and over again. Yet, I can still run that boss once and get just as much out of him as you would in 10 runs. Completely. Random. And still playing with RNG no matter what you do. " Yeah I'm done after this comment. I feel like I'm trying to convince this kid he has no idea what "random" means. Oh...wait... Last edited by l_Caxius_l#7930 on Jan 14, 2025, 10:59:41 PM

FYI: At the first plan, POE2 is actually POE1 remake. So, it takes many elements from POE1, most of them are sadistic because players in POE1 have many OP builds so they make many penalties to balance with.
For example: - Many important passive nodes come with sadistic penalties: Acrobatics lets you evade all Hits but reduces 70% of your evasion rating. - Leave on death AOEs to 1 hit KO. as if POE1 players love them. (No, I don't like that) - Delete EXP on death and Party loots. Yup! Everyone can grab any loots in party, very old fashion game from 12 years ago. - Every progression requires complex processes. It's not like Diablo4 that you need only summoning items to farm a boss. In POE1 and 2 you need to groom the map, enhance waystones, etc. |

" Except....that's not at ALL what the system in this game is, NOR how the lottery works, NOR how probability works lol. Every single thing you said in this post was just straight up wrong, its actually funny. Completely and utterly clueless posts right here. First of all, buying more than 1 ticket LITERALLY gives you better odds of winning the lottery. Unless for whatever reason you are buying 100 tickets all with the same choice in numbers lol. Additionally, lets take that lottery ticket and put it into an ACTUAL relevant example: a random drawing. The difference between 1 ticket in a pool and 100 tickets in a pool is mathematically....not the same. Even if the "pick" is still completely random. My god. Now lets talk about "rng" as it works in the game. RNG is NOT random, it is a probability system based on % chances. In fact, there is nothing in programming that can ever be "truly" random. Even the people who have no idea how it works, know that RNG is not random. Lets look at a VERY easy example of how probability ACTUALLY works in the real world: 1) A die has 6 numbers on it, you are attempting to roll a 1 2) Rolling the die once yields a 1 in 6 (16.66%) chance to get a 1. (1 - (5 / 6) ^ 1) 3) Rolling the die MORE times, lets say 50 times, you have a 99% chance to get a 1 within those 50 times. (1 - (5 / 6) ^ 50). The RATE stays the same, but the actual probability increases drastically. This is the exact same situation for ANY outcome that exists in PoE, or any RNG video game system. The more tries, the higher the probability to hit it. Oh my god, its almost like you are.....supposed to replay areas to get better loot! Your chances are always the WORST if you only do it once. And are you serious, do I really need to "prove" that bosses and rares have higher chance of dropping better items and skill gems? I could, but I really don't even want to dignify that with a quick search. What would be the point of them? Also....that has always been the situation: rares and bosses have WAY higher IIR and IIQ, both of which affect skill gem drops and rare item drops. I really hope you moved on from this game, because both the gameplay loop and the level of maturity/intelligence don't seem to fit. For the record, I responded to each and every one of your posts in their entirety. I did not take any snippet out of context. I suggest you re-read and comprehend the responses a bit more. " This, but applied to endgame. I haven't gotten an upgrade in over 200 hours of gameplay. Had to buy all my gear. Can't imagine how SSF players feel. |
