Death Penalty (I am done)

Total valid points, except the way people die is from POOR programming and bugs - not from a player making a mistake.

It would just keep me playing another 200 hours to make 100 and get me to the next season vs. quitting the game out of frustration until the next season.

You would think GGG would want players playing as long as possible?

Your mistake is thinking that they want you playing non-stop. In reality they want you to quit the game for a while because that's how they maximize their revenue and keep players coming back to the game.

They want you to play a couple hundred hours per league and leave the game after 1-2 months, maybe even skip the next one or two next leagues. This way you have enough time to:

1) Rest from this awful game
2) Forget what made you quit in the first place
3) Forget how many supporter packs you've bought the past couple years

So when they release the new league, instead of your mindset being:
"I'm tired of grinding in this low-effort gambling fiesta, I'm uninstalling"

it actually is:
"Hey! New league! I'd love to play some more PoE again, let's buy these supporter packs with cool skins too! Let me boot the game up to download the patches I missed. Oh there are new items that are very useful, let me also buy their stash tabs to make my gaming experience smoother"

Last part is a true story about Essences, Scarabs, Breach splinters and some other things that were not implemented in PoE 2 (yet). They're the game developers, they can literally create a need/issue out of thin air and sell you a product to solve it.

By the way, because so many players quit the game so quickly, they can also cut a lot of server costs. The last thing they want is spending money on servers full of people having fun but not spending money in their game.

Good points and makes sense, I guess goal accomplished - they made me quit early!

All right, I have said my peace...best of luck to those hanging in there!

I'm pretty sure xp loss left such a bad taste that barely anyone will forget it.

Say they remove the xp penalty, and you hit 100. Then what? Would you feel like you're wasting time if there is no more progression past 100?

Please enlighten us:
1. How exactly would a casual hit 100 in a reasonable time frame?
2. What makes you think you know what people want to do?

1. They wouldn't. If the penalty were to be removed, the next demand would be to make leveling faster.

2. Literally every game with a slight amount of challenge is plagued by these demands.
Death Penalty is time sink and GGG is wrong to have it. But there is better solution than cancelling it - introduce waystones Tier 16-21. Bump up experience acquisition. Problem I have with death penalty after level 90 is not 10% level loss - it's a minuscule experience gain.

You either are brain dead or unemployed if you call loss of 10% of the level a slight challenge when you character is above level 95.

You surely jest... What the hell is "too often"? 10% of level after 95 is once per 2-3 hours of play.

First, I have 286.6 hours in POE2 and have a level 94 character.

To play for 2-3 hours and gain 2-3 bars of experience and then die to some unknown buggy mechanic (poor programing or maybe intentional) and loosing all of the experience gains just kills the game for me.

I really enjoyed most aspects of POE2 (and some of POE1) but I quit POE1 because of the death penalty and I am now officially done with POE2 because of the death penalty too.

Not sure why you guys are so stubborn on making the game fun and not penalizing but anyways it's your game to make how you want.

No need for people to flame me or my post, just giving my feedback to the developers that are still living in the 90s.

HARDCORE = DEATH PENALTY
SOFTCORE = SHOULD NOT HAVE A DEATH PENALTY

People play softcore for a reason IT'S SOFT!!!!!!

I dont disagree, but what you feel doesnt even come close after level 97.

I am Level 98 45% its taken 915 hrs 122 deaths so far (only ever played 1 character), i approximate reaching level 99 just 55% more around 70 hrs more.

Followed by 1 month 6-8 hrs per day from 99 to 100.

This is an infernalist build, 25 minions, and i dont run any maps without minimum 30-40% exp boost.

I will not run any map without exp boost unless its needed for next juicing section.

If you play for exp and leveling you have to setup for that.

Dont max out your waystones its pointless for exp leveling (i dont care about a few extra mobs, and can cause easier death), run blue maps with 3 mechanics you know its spot on if you see "25%-35% waystone find" on the waystone.

If you are playing for drops, then this method is not for you.

You cant have all unless your some broken LS build, but no one really respects meta builds (the players i spoke too anyway).

P.S

I am a Dog and i will just drop my load and leave on to the next post
