Death Penalty (I am done)

As for the penalty and reaching level 100, this is only a problem since Diablo 4...crazy how that game spoiled your average casual gamers, before that game it was not a problem AT ALL.

Wrong. Diablo 4 has nothing to do with it and there's been several games over the decades that don't wipe out your XP with no option to recover it
I'd like for there to be a Death Penalty honestly. I think it's good that it is hard to level up. And people should be careful about dying.

I just don't like the feeling of going backwards, losing progress already made.

If it was something like, dying makes you lose 75% XP gain for the next 10 minutes.

And make it stacking, so if you die again, you are losing 93% gain for a while and so and so.

I get killed for no reason

Your defences are lacking, you run maps with too many damage mods, you need to improve your skill and/or you rush through maps too fast.

and when did you run with me?

The easiest option that would achieve pretty much everybody's goal (except people who need others to fail for them to be happy) is to simply progressively escalate the amount of XP needed. This would still make it hard (without a properly optimized leveling strategy) to achieve 100, while simultaneously not punishing people for dying. The time lost due to dying will quickly accumulate naturally when XP requirements get increasingly higher, so you would still be forced to play carefully if you want to reach 100.

First, I have 286.6 hours in POE2 and have a level 94 character.

To play for 2-3 hours and gain 2-3 bars of experience and then die to some unknown buggy mechanic (poor programing or maybe intentional) and loosing all of the experience gains just kills the game for me.

I really enjoyed most aspects of POE2 (and some of POE1) but I quit POE1 because of the death penalty and I am now officially done with POE2 because of the death penalty too.

Not sure why you guys are so stubborn on making the game fun and not penalizing but anyways it's your game to make how you want.

No need for people to flame me or my post, just giving my feedback to the developers that are still living in the 90s.

HARDCORE = DEATH PENALTY
SOFTCORE = SHOULD NOT HAVE A DEATH PENALTY

People play softcore for a reason IT'S SOFT!!!!!!

Thats why 99% people left this game.

Pretty sure bad itemization and unapproachable high end trading destroyed more motivation than XP loss.

On my case I hate XP loss too but for 2 reason. Monster doesn't give enough XP at high level because of the level difference. And I can't gear myself properly so I die more often than not.

I can't do anything about the first part. And the second part is just demotivating to engage in because I don't like playing economy simulator and the half SSF part is too randomized to give good result in a timely manner. (I have like 1 char that can do T2 Pinnacle boss, 2 that can hardly do T15, 1 that just begin cruel and I have like 4 div currency for gearing them)

+1 completely agree
Main problem for me is not the xp loss itself, i get the point of level 100 to be the last true endgame achievement, but the fact we are given 0 informations about the death itself.

What killed me? How much damage i am taking? What do i need to survive 1 shots other than playing lich or warrior?

I recorded several videos of random 1 shots happening during maps and i cant even understand whats going on by watching them :D

There are random tsar bombs, you can survive 1 hit and all of a sudden the same hit 1 shot you, lightning explosions on empty maps and stuff like this every now and then.

Game is fine from start to level 92 for me then it feels like mobs hit harder than pinnacles despite they are always level 79-82.

Still trying to git gud and better but frustration will win before new league.

It's been 5 months already, I stop playing because of this insane and ridiculous mechanics the XP penalty.

Just move on, play another game, POE2 is a waste of time and effort.

Path of Exile has always had a death penalty. It's part of its identity. Some people like it, some people don't. It's not going to change because some people don't like it. In Path of Exile Land, Hardcore means your character can only die once, and League is what you wish Hardcore was. It's just that those modes are one level more extreme than you're used to/wish. There is no Softcore in Path of Exile.
