0.10.8 Patch Notes

Great as always!
Great patch! Thanks for discussing the Act 3 levels with the community before actually applying them! Keep it coming! Looking forward to the new supporter pack :)
The Life Leech Support gem now starts at 5% leech and progresses in smaller increments up to 8.8% leech at Level 20.
The Mana Leech Support gem now starts at 2% and goes up in smaller increments, reaching 5.1% at Level 20.

the actual gems.. chance automatically?... or this is for the new ones?
Wise words buff -> balance <- nerf , need to happen , deal with it
Please upgrade all maps to lvl 68 or higher if you change act 3 to lvl 68. just bump all maps up 2 levels also.

Good to see that you guys are reworking some "weak/not so good" skills, but didnt you mention something about maybe changing the quality bonuses?
I personally would love to see a revamp of the quality bonuses on most skills gems, so that they ended up more like lightning strikes quality bonus. Quality on a gem shouldnt alwaysbe good imo, it should add another lvl on build depth.

I couldn't disagree more quality should always be good. It is superior no need to make things counter intuitive, id like to see it reworked on things like some auras where it only gives area radius bonus.

Please let people take on higher challenge to get more xp. Running low level maps is really unappealing when your a much higher level.

I understand your frustration, but we are exiles, not ordinary folk. Criminals of a lesser nature would simply be burned at the stake or beheaded. The path we walk is the path that Dominus fears and dreads.

Keep in mind:

Act 3 added 5 levels to the game, and with this patch it will be ten levels of challenge. As Chris said, the upcoming patch means players can hit level 84 before hitting a significant XP penalty.

And the game is still beta.

contrast that with the Diablo 2 and 3 beta which only had a single act. I didn't participate in the D3 beta, but I recall getting to level 23 was quite a grind in the D2 beta.

That Grinding Gear Games is allowing players to get to level 84 before any real XP penalty kicks IN THE BETA should tell you something very significant.

What it should tell you is that they are trying to craft and balance the game based on real live player input. We are the infinite number of monkeys clicking away frantically trying to find some extra advantage in the game.

When we fail miserably because of game design, GGG can see it and carefully try to fix it (which is evidenced by such things as the recent skill gem changes). When we saunter through the game with a click click here and a click click there, here a click, there a click, everywhere an OP click - then GGG can note that as well and tone down the skill, passive node or items responsible.

Right now, it looks to me as if GGG is still trying to fine tune the level 80ish stuff. Venturing into the 90ish stuff would be unwise until the earlier XP levels are balanced.

As for getting more XP - when I just checked a moment ago - the character HVR on default was at level 99, and in Hardcore the character TheTheory was at level 96.

So... clearly it's possible if you really want to put the effort into it.

IIRC, when the content ended in act 2 at much lower levels, Gorlak was at level 84.

The path of exiles is never an easy path. The fact that we choose to continue down that path despite the deaths and frustrations is part of why Dominus fears us.

This patch should be deployed early tomorrow afternoon, NZ time.

Fixed a bug where Devouring Totem would attempt to raise a corpse on its own location which is then killed, causing an instance crash.

THANK YOU. This has killed a lvl 81 of mine :/

no youd still have to spend currency rolling maps because the only reason you are now playing 66-68 maps is to get map drops, and you can only buff that through spending currency on them. Also just because lvl69 maps are the first tier of wanted maps doesnt make them any easier to find, it will be no easier to get into or maintain 70+ maps unless they actually buff the drop rate for them.

If you are running maps solo, then yes, you will pay out the nose trying to get mods to get you more and better map drops. If your are running in 5-6 players games, then you can get to level 74 maps with just a few transmutes, alts and augmentations. The 75 and higher maps require quite a bit of luck to sustain.

When act 4 is released, I would expect the level of higher map drops to increase with it.

If every map boss dropped a higher map, then players could get to level 99 maps and level 100 in a short period. They could find everything and be done with the game.

Would they be more happy then?

IMO - a decent chunk of the reward in POE is the battle to get there. If it's too easy, I might as well be running a cheat program for instawin. YMMV.
