Chris in 0.10.8 information thread you said that maps rewards will be revisited.
Rare, magic mobs may drop blue/yellow maps is that the change?

Seems like they forgot about this. Anyway, is too much generic statement, so it can mean the drop from special chests, piety, etc. Or just they delayed to the next patches, who knows. Maybe we had too much faith on this. Would be great if Chris clarify this point.

Chris, last week you said Rewards will be revisited in Maps.Any info about this ?

^This, i was waiting for that and nothing is in the patch notes

To the best of my knowledge, this is not in this patch but will be addressed in a 'b', 'c' or 'd' style patch (assuming it's still being done, which I expect it is).

I may be wrong about whether it's in 0.10.8 - this was the first patch that I wasn't in charge of (I let Carl lead this one), so I'll ask Carl tomorrow to see if it made it in and was accidentally missed from the patch notes. I suspect it wasn't though.

ahhh lucky for me not need to read 10+ page to found these answer
Finally, we get to see patch notes for 0.10.8! My friend and I had been waiting for this for such a long time, I can't wait to see the changes - along with the new Uniques!

I'm pretty sure the lucky/unlucky mod appears on one of the new uniques. If you look at the patch notes, it says "There are new general mechanics that first appear on these items:" "These items" refers to the new uniques just mentioned. After the colon, you see three new mods, each indicated with a "-". In other words, the aoe ground effects and the lucky/unlucky mod appear as mods on the new uniques somehow. I'm guessing the lucky/ unlucky mod is on something like a "gambler's ring," which makes it so your iiq and iir mods either benefit you greatly or screw you over, especially on boss kills.
Nice patch. I wish catacombs was 69 or 70 tho.. and that puncture was a support gem

I hope not. I read it as referring to crits etc.. the last thing this game needs is more mf
So changes to make the map system viable, then you follow it up with nerfing it all so only level 66 maps drop in such places (I assume it wasn't all level 66 maps previously)? I would have limited the max level to the new highest area level (68) so that there is still some variety in map levels.

Well, to be fair, if it is like I say, it would be more and Less mf. And if it appears only on a unique, if could be a fun mechanic. The only thing that confuses me it how the notes say "general mechanics" beforehand, as if it's a mechanic that will appear on other items eventually, but only first appear on these uniques.
Hi,

You just start killing your game. Here is why:

I dont see how this change does anything except making level 66-68 maps even more obsolete.
The map feature is genius, why are you trying to make it less desirable to do them?
This proposed change does not make too much sense to me.

If the intention of the change is to give players an optional area to farm besides the first tier of maps, WHY? (if it is to give them an alternative farm area besides docks... keep reading)
Its like you guys at GGG are not acknowledging your own creation (map system) and instead of making it even more awesome, you are trying to offer alternatives.
Why would we need a boring static area as an alternative to this awesome map feature?
The map system has some flaws, you should focus on fixing these flaws instead of offering boring static alternative zones.

A lot of people will like this change because they will now have a higher level area to play in because previously they were incapable of getting into the first tier of map levels COMFORTABLY, instead they were farming docks.
Therefore, if you read a "i like this change" feedback, you should question yourself why they like it in the first place.
They like it because they were farming docks while they were already level 74+.
Why were they not farming level 66 maps? Thats where you should try to improve the system.

If you increase the levels outside of maps to 68, people will now level to about 78-80 outside of maps, and then they will still have terrible access to 69+ maps.
Will you then proceed to think about adding even higher level content in act 3 merciless?
Reconsider what you are trying to achieve with this change, please.
You are only moving the treshold up at which point people have terrible access to even higher level content.

I am just going to quote a few of the +1 posts in this thread, because it perfectly encompasses why they would like this change (without realizing that change only moves the treshold).
"
I'm for this 100%. Not having to hope for lucky maps drops to level past a certain point is all positive in my book.

"
Brilliant idea
Would love to level some more without wasting maps and orbs

What they do not realize, is that they will sooner or later reach level 80 by leveling outside of maps, at which point the new lvl 80 is equal to the old lvl 72 situation.
Then they will realize that there is no experience left outside of maps, thus they will start mapping.
Now they will realize that the first 3 levels of map tiers (66-68) do not grant any experience either, and while it was already impossible for these players to get into that low lvl map tier before your proposed change (proven by the quote), getting 69+ maps will feel impossible to these guys.
Focus your changes on the map system, not on act 3 merciless.

Now ill also quote someone that actually looked beyond his initial thoughts and came to the same conclusion as me (not sayiing that there is only one such person in this thread).
"
At first glance it looks like a good change. But after thinking a bit about it, I come to the conclusion that is is indeed not.

Why change this at first:

To add an option for people that don't have the currency to farm maps to farm other place.

But this induce a flaw in the map system: I am currently in this spot: I have 20 maps roughly, some level 70, but I only do 66-68 that I transmute + alt because I am not that rich. What will be the point for me to play level 66-68 maps when, for NO PRICE, I can do the same in lunaris level 2-3?

The problem being adressed (cost of running maps) is not resolved, people will just farm merciless act 3 until they can safely run 69 maps and the cost of running these will still be the same.

Second point: the map system is really awesome. Giving options to farm experience outside of them is not the way to go imho. I have read that you where happy with how maps limit the number of high ilevel items in the market, but you were concerned on the fact that maps limits the experience gain.

I think you should really focus on improving the map system, giving options to not go in maps is not improving the system.

Another issue i see (other than it making 66-68 maps obsolete), is that the progress in act 3 merciless will be even more like hitting a brick wall beyond sarn city.
Having to grind a little in order to clear "regular" content is fine (this is currently the case), but after this change people will have to grind act 3 for about 15-20 levels in order to be able to comfortably clear the whole act.

In the current iteration i farmed to level 72 in sarn city and then proceeded to clear the whole act, but i still had some trouble in lunaris lvl 3 because my gear was still rather terrible.
With the change, people will have to level to even higher levels, and they will have to buy gear from other players in order to clear it solo. Overall not a desirable change at all.

Many players were waiting for reply...

You'd better listen to the "hard"core players, they cement the community. They are the ones that can play for years.
Make the game funnier and rewarding for lvl75+ before they leave !

+1 to what gh0un & m0juba said!

I do not understand either why you do not work on the MAPS model rather than boosting static areas.

I love MAPS and I want to do them all day long! Why? Because there are so many possibilities! As you did in previous patches you can add more mods, etc... My personal choice would be MAPS that are MASSIVE. I hate maps that can be done in 5 minutes, it is repetitive. I know there is the "Maze" mod but it does not cut it. I also understand that some players prefer doing short maps and I totally see the reason why. Then give us the choice to do either massive or small maps...

Rework the MAPS concept that WE have the choice whether to kill Piety or go for maps....

Any chance that you guys will change the graphical effect for auras again? The new ones are really ugly :( I liked the old ones much better.
