From Hype to Disappointment: How Patch 0.2.1 Ruined the Chase

I think some people here don’t really understand the value of unique items. If you ever played PoE 1, just imagine if Mageblood started dropping like rain, the price crashing from 200 divs to 15. That would completely break the game. And that’s exactly what’s happening now.

Rite of Passage and other uniques that were meant to be ultimate chase items are suddenly easy to get. To think how broken that is, if this were PoE 1, every single build would be using Mageblood. You wouldn’t even need to think twice. It’s just that OP. Same goes for Rite of Passage now.

But then again, PoE 2 still lacks real build diversity, so making these overpowered items common just makes things worse. Everyone ends up using the same stuff, and the sense of progression is gone.

Rite of Passage is top tier unique but not even close to mageblood in terms of functionality and how it interacts with the game as a whole. It was expensive because the simple supply / demand rule.

And also, mageblood did dropped like a rain twice. In affliction league and necropolis. The game did not break, the economy adjust accordingly and shifts the value to other items with less supply and stable demand.

You invest your currency into rite of passage, which have unknown risk factors but you refuse to acknowledge it. Now the risk / consequence is happening and you blame the the game for not accommodating your refusal to acknowledge the risk of having the items to be less rare, which in turn creating more supply and having its value become not as much as it used to be.

If you actually spent 700 divines for a charm, then RIP BOZO. You should have known better especially if you play PoE 1.

Le lolz.

Woe is you, few hundred divines clearly not good enough for chase item so you come here banging the hyperbole drum trying to generate sympathy.

More available items are, the better.. creating aritificial gates helps no one other than the trade junkies botting their items for cheap to sell at a mark up later.

P.S

I am a Dog and i will just drop my load and leave on to the next post
I have much better time in SSF. I actually got some cool uniques, like the spirit per life shield.

Makes no sense. I don't remember exactly how the league is called, but it was the league when GGG introduced Valdo's maps and magic find was at its peak. At some point people could buy a non-bricked Mageblood for around 80d, and it was the best time in the game. Realistically you could afford Mageblood with ~2-3hours of mfing. What it did is it pushed our characters further, so we could farm harder content, I myself made two characters for Valdo's (two of them died) and it was probably the most fun I had in a league. The chat was filled with messages like "motherlover was sent into the Void".

Stop crying, the game works not like you think it works. If you are hoarder and use big items only for status, that's on you. Why should anyone else care? I use better items to get access to a harder content. And the fact that we get them easier now is only good for the game.

The latest 0.2.1 patch is honestly so disappointing that it’s made me not want to play anymore. Why? Imagine playing for two months, grinding hard to earn in-game currency, saving up just to buy valuable, pinnacle items like Kalandra's Touch or Rite of Passage. These items used to be special, rare and meaningful. But now? They drop so often that nobody even wants to buy them. Can you imagine how that feels?

I kept a Rite of Passage as an investment, believing it was a late-game trophy worth chasing. But I didn’t expect GGG to make endgame items drop so easily that they’ve completely lost their value. If even the rarest items become common, what’s left to aim for? What’s the point of grinding for divines and buying expensive gear when that gear becomes worthless a few days later?

I honestly don’t know what to do anymore. There’s nothing left to chase, nothing to show off, and no reason to keep grinding. If everything becomes easy to get, then the excitement and the purpose of playing disappears.

I don't understand , i haven't seen single item which te price goes up later in time , you always selling item which is valuable as soon as possible because the price is higher , meanwhile when lots of people reaching endgame and start grinding its clearly sure that this items will be more in game so the price will go down ? So what's the point hamstering this for next mounth and then crying that's price is lower ? I did about 20 maps with 30 quan and 200 rarity and didin't drop even a single divine except rain of trash rares and uniqs , so i don't think GGG ruined anything , i think is still shit drop
Look at the current unique item price, tell me , which one is most valuable now? is there any? oh everyone can have same item now, so balanced, no point to grind , you can get any item with 1 div investment, look alpha howl = 15c, kalandra touch 1div, Headhunter 8-10 divs? lol , no point to grind anymore
PoE 2? "It’s not just PoE 1 with better graphics."
These items being more accessible for normal people have nothing to do with your "feelings".
You can push your chase to crafting mirror-tier rares. GGG did the right thing this time catering the casuals. We dont gaf about you 0.1% wops.

So you change your chase to rare now??? Lol you dont chase unique anymore?? Imagine , what is the purpose of this chase 0.2.1 then?? Is it chase rare or unique??

GGG is destroying this game by dropping unique like common items

Not that this changes all that much, but I heard an interview where Jonathan himself said that the highly powerful, extremely rare chase items are essential to the game. So maybe they'll continue to release those 0.00001% drop rate uniques in the future. The loot system is still evolving, but I'm sure it will reach a point where there are items that are mirror tier in terms of value, and will retain their value.
