The hate on that ring reminds me of the hate my unique got in this thread when it was introduced (Lightning Coil); I knew its power (and the associated drawbacks) and GGG agreed, which was one of the reasons it got implemented so quickly, but 80% of the posts were talking about how it would never be used. Now, nearly a year later, it is used heavily, at least in hardcore leagues, so really, who knows on the ring.
was that before +2 max lightning res was added to the tree? because it makes a solid difference for non-aura builds
and i do not remember such debates about lightning coil being any more intense then about all other new uniques (you as an author probably see it differently)
however this ring has one stat to it (100% conversion) and huge direct drawback (no prolif) and few indirect drawback (no life, crit, flat dmg) and shares a base with a bit more desirable ring
and id like to know how the hell this granite BiS flask got into the game!
Not sure when you started playing, but your skill tree history is way off; elemental adaptation used to be FIVE percent to max resists, it got NERFED since I designed Lightning Coil, not "added".
Also, I was referring to this thread and not discussion in general, as this thread has always been exceedingly harsh on uniques whose power isn't immediately evident in my experience.

i play since dark ages of no-chaos damage of CB
and yes, in OB it was +5, then it got cut down to +2 (with purity losing its +max bonus..), then moved if i remember and finally we have +4 spread in 3 nodes. i dont remember clearly (because - truth be told i never gave much thought to uniques that would not drop for me anyway..) but it might be just after purity of elements were released and only +2 was available from the tree... anyway. just like any phys->ele conversion strength of this item was apparent from day one.
about this thread and people dissmising everything - i remember people downplaying absurds of windriper and soul taker..

Pyre; Three Dragons; Glacial Cascade; Avatar of Fire; high crit build; Spell Echo; Knockback; Concentrated Effect; Fire Penetration; Increased Area of Effect.
Super-effective shock stacker.
This is the build that I wanted when Glacial Cascade came out, but it was never fully functional due to the percentages/needing Fire to Cold gem. Pyre should change that.
Using a Cold spell to do Fire damage to inflict Lightning status condition.
It's worth noting that +2 maps are a dangerous thing.
They can cause players to get out of their depth -
playing maps that are too hard for the items they currently have. Herp Derp.

all i know is im going to use this ring for something i dont care for what. but it is mine
the ring is amazing a frenzy discharger who is able to perpetual discharge if he can kill 1 hit with bloodrage and lots of damage over time nodes on top of that get romira and resolute+ static blows and you have a 7+ frenzy charge burndischarger with shockstacks
yeah sick

Burning discharger with this ring.. wont work. As corpses shall disintegrate and no longer prolif burn. Remember that the highest burn source shall die first. This is more like 'dousing discharger' sadly
