Introducing the Trade-House Idea (Offline Trading)

wow, chill man. Anyways you have to admit a phone app that let you trade in POE would be pretty badass.

Hey whats up you get a text?

No i just traded for a flaming longsword of death.

Nice.
Yes good sir, I enjoy slaying mythical creatures.
I'm a supporter of the forum trading concept initially. An in game auction house would be cool but either way, I do trades in other games straight through chat(Trade channel...no spam). If you're selling something useful, it will sell itself almost instantly. At least in my experience.

If POE does take off in a big way, and it makes sense to develop things like a phone app to run side by side with a in game auction house....that'd be awesome. As they say baby steps.

In the practice also :) So is everyone happy now? :D
He who fights with monsters
might take care lest he thereby
become a monster.
Forum trading is all this game needs, I also think it would be the only system that would work since there won't be a standard currency.

On a side note. An auction house isn't a "WoW" rip-off. Games had auction-houses before WoW. Lately I've been seeing more and more "MMO=WoW & WoW invented the genre" Wow is a good and popular game, it didn't create a genre.

I like Malice's ideas for a trade house.

The game needs something more than trade forums. A system to easily sort through items and filter ones you want is a necessity. In game is always the best option. If trade threads could be merged into the in-game trade house, even better.

I want to be able to accept/reject/reply to incoming offers while I'm playing the game. Trading shouldn't be a game stopper IMO.

I was introduced to this idea while playing Vindictus. I have to say it was really nice to know the prices of things. As opposed to games such as Fly For Fun, where it took about an hour to go through shops, and you had to remember where a certain shop was, and the item might be gone by the time you get back to it. Along with the trade board, the fees that came along with it seemed fair, such as for canceling an item on the board there was a couple gold fee and what not.
Again I haven't read the thread and so I have no idea what has been said... however this is the way an item based trade system must work:

Items are put up for sale on an auction house, and players can make bids.

Each auction has a set duration.

When you select an item that has been put up, you will get a list of all other auction bids for that item.

You now have the opportunity to browse offers, and submit your own. When you submit an offer, the items you are offering become locked (ie. you cannot use that item to offer for another item)

The owner of a sale can at any time up until the deadline accept any offer. The items will be traded, and all other offers will become unlocked.

No 2 offers can be exactly the same in the list... if you want to bid it must be different than a bid already up.

I see this system as mandatory as the game gets larger and thousands of items are up for sale. It will not be possible to do personal forum trades on such a scale imo. Without gold to normalize entries, the system must record every entry as equivalent and allow the seller to decide what they want to choose.

I don't think items should be locked when you propose them. That would severely limit your trading potential. You could have your items locked up potentially for a long time when you could have easily found someone else more willing to trade in the meantime.

The poster should be able to decline any bids at any time and can also give a reason why.
