Where's Purity of Chaos?
ES was meant to be an INT version of armour/evasion. Can you play vs chaos stacking armour/evasion only? No you can't, omg WTF GGG what's wrong with armour/evasion?

Seems to me that the design of the the game was to avoid defense dominated builds. There's very little in the game that you can do that would work against any offense. ES has advantages, but has drawbacks too. So does armor. So does evasion. Giving a global remedy to a disadvantage would make anything become the dominant choice. This isn't a design flaw. It's part of what makes PoE challenging. The people who claim the game is too easy are playing builds that either avoid all drawbacks or have found ways to eliminate them.

" How is CI a bit underpowered now ? It is in the same state as it was months ago. Life has been buffed, yes, but CI is still pretty much as efficient as it was in Onslaught. It is just designed now in a way that not every build would be better with CI (it was almost the case in Onslaught). IGN : @Morgoth

I have map capable:
ES dual totemer with no life nodes or CI (level 80) CI melee with GR & VP (level 78) Current CI & GR EK shadow that's more powerful than the above two. ES builds are working fine. If you want to defend against chaos damage, you have several options: Avoid chaos damage (easily done for a dual tomemer) Max chaos resist (hardest option) Get a shavs (expensive and still needs chaos resist) Take CI (easiest and most recommended option). (b) Personal abuse, foul language, inappropriate subject matter, obscene, harassing, threatening, hateful, or discriminatory or defamatory remarks of any nature ... are not permitted.

I use a Shav and this works perfectly with a chaos res of -60%. Most phys attacks hit much harder.

" Many ES builds do take Chaos Inoculation, and that doesn't make them harder. With a CI build, you only need ES, with a life build you need life and chaos resist. Yes, initially, the gear dependency is higher since good ES gear isn't as common. (But I agree that CI is poorly positioned for a melee ES build; then again, so is MoM for witches and shadows.) If you want to play a low life build, you now have two armors to choose from. Saying you want neither CI nor either of these two uniques, well, that doesn't really cut it. | |
Op is right about the "purity of chaos".
All other lack of resist can be bypassed in the gearing face simply by using an appropriate purity aura. I see no reason why this should not be the case with chaos resistance as well. Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

" Because it's not supposed to be "yet another element, just green"? I like the unpredictability of chaos compared to the other 3 and the different ways to overcome it. Makes the game interesting. Considering how much (hp) ES users can bulk, I look at this as a non issue.
Besides, they have other benefits such as the option to go CI or stack more than two auras. Chaos bypassing their energy shield is really peanuts compared to what you can accomplish with a solid build. |
