Where's Purity of Chaos?
If your that worried about stacking chaos resist, stack it to zero, and use a elemental purity to compensate.

" I'd say that chaos resist is more like a bonus when you're going life based. It makes your life easier, but you can go very far, even in hardcore leagues, with -60 chaos res. For example, Etup had no chaos res on his gear or on his tree with his ST ranger. Yes he died at level 98, but not because of chaos damage. IGN : @Morgoth

" That's just what I said, CI is just a little bit underpowered now in comparison with life builds, since with the life buff at release, you can get around 4-5k hp without too much trouble (still less than what you can achieve with CI, but it's usually enough for almost everything), while keeping all the benefits from life based characters (like life regen, flasks and resistance to stun/status ailments). CI hasn't been directly nerfed, beside the relocation of VP (which can be a pain for crit builds), it's perfectly viable, it's just that there's not many reasons to go CI now if you're not a shadow/witch, and only because those classes can't access easily to life nodes. What irks me about ES and Chaos damage is how pure Chaos damage (like Chaos damage per second or DoT Chaos damage) prevents ES recovery.
Chaos damage bypasses ES, yet it also prevents ES recovery. This, to me, is unintuitive and sucks *ss. Imo, pure Chaos damage should not interrupt ES recovery. I think you should be able to recover ES in a 'Chaos Damage per Second' map so long as you don't get hit by an enemy attack. Obviously, your health pool would still be draining. However, I don't expect any changes regarding this, and I am confident that my Evasion/ES Bow Ranger will be forever gimped. TY to those who called me out on my BS on these forums. There is no benefit to being so selfish as to fail to acknowledge others' differing beliefs of what "should be" or believe your own opinions so supreme as to be factual and thus dismiss others' opinions as being somehow a lie or delusional.

" EB is the new CI now ever since the addition of MoM. the only reason to go CI now is if you're not playing a caster and if you're a crit bow/dagger user who had to venture to the top of the tree anyway to grab the crit nodes and decided to grab CI because of the lack of HP nodes at the top of the tree or because you needed VP. CI is never an option by itself. In its current state it's always combined with GR +/- VP. Aside from detonate dead self casters which can arguably use a dd totem anyway instead of self casting, no other caster does better going CI than going life-based (and also explains scion's superiority in terms of casting). I did successfully make a hybrid HP/ES Templar shortly after OB with almost maxed out chaos res. however, that was to use RF without shavs. Now that RF got reworked, there isn't even that option anymore. There's no real point now in maxing out chaos res and going HP/ES now unless it is to make use of the low life bonuses - where you're better off having -60 chaos res and use shavs anyway. I find I can get around most chaos damage sources, it just isn't fun. The playstyle slows to a halt because of the necessary caution required. The biggest offender are the act 3 snakes when they show up in maps. As a low life summoner without shavs, their multi-shot thorn thing pierces and can be quite difficult to avoid. I end up dropping my blood magic reserved auras and then they're nothing. Everything else I can either throw up a wall of skeletons, or avoid the cloud of poison. That typically works, save for a desync.
It still needs a change though. A purity of chaos, or including it in all-res would be welcomed. It's just not fun to deal with even when you do know the ways around it. That makes it something that should be addressed. IGN: Alfrost, Racthoh, The_Crimson

" I kind of disagree. My 2H Melee Scion is capable of all maps unless they have a blood magic aura; the only thing it really can't do is Residence/Palace Dominus (unless you fancy yourself fast enough at leap slamming away as to avoid his touch of God attack). I also died to Shock & Horror with twinned / -24 max res / "fleet" because I couldn't keep myself from getting triple shock stacked with the 10 lightning totems (I think if I could do the fight again and wore a Fairgraves Tricorne, it would have been doable without dying). And the build isn't that expensive, relatively speaking. ~45 exalts of gear. Build @ level 88.

The third Chaos defense option to Shavronnes or CI is Projectile Block, which can be had via Ondar's Guile or a Titucus Span shield. Keep an Amethyst Flask on hand and you'll do fine even with -60% Chaos Resist. Only a couple surprises to watch for: Viper Strike spider bosses and Act 3 Alchemists. But spiders are slow and no one farms Sewers anyway.

" But Alchemists do appear in maps, and sometimes they have multishot... Glad to read that a lot of people agree with me. I don't want this game dumbed down or made lol3asy mode, but the fact that GGG added +chaos res nodes indicates that they are aware that chaos damage is a tad overtuned. All I suggest is another option, and I think a Purity of Chaos gem is the way. It adds only a small extra bonus of +%41 (unless you have insane + mod gear). This is not game breaking.
