Almost any 6L 1.8k+ AR/EV chest with 80+ life and a helmet with 600+ AR/EV with 80+ is generally better than BoR. In your own 6L, you can have 20/20 MPD and 20/20 FA, which provide great bonuses for quality. Sure, Blind is useful, but just that, nothing more. However, phys damage mod is really nice, and you don't have to get high phys damage on amulet to compensate it, you can leave SoL block amulet. Why do I mention SoL amulet? Because why would you take that 15% block on BoR to be useful if you don't use spell block on your main shield, without swapping? If you swap it for Saffell's, it provides that block chance, so BoR isn't needed. Therefore, the block mod on BoR is wasted. And if you're not having a max block build with it, that block mod is just useful then, nothing more. Downsides are, a lot less armour than in chest + helmet setup, less resistances which you can have on those 2 pieces, so you can get other mods on other gear. Generally lower DPS compared with 6L and a phys amulet, maybe even Abyssus, because you'd have a lot more armour on yourself with a 2k+ 6L chest. BoR is (was) just a poor mans 6L (7L), not even close to a BiS. I actually agree with Tinko, though I usually do with balance-related stuff. Just not his... other posts. New Soul Taker is extremely, vastly, grossly overrated/overpriced. It's definitely nice... for cyclone (and I guess dom blow, though I know little about it) but for 40 exalts you're SOO much better off with a rare on any other melee skill. Though I do think legacy ST was/is a little ridiculous, the nerf they gave it was perfect IMO. BoR too, not that good. It just makes your decisions for you... which is apparently what people want. But to address the OP, I think weapons are a slot that really should be reserved for rares. Because it's a slot that really just boils down to how much damage the weapon has. Give a unique weapon too much damage and everyone uses it; don't give it enough and nobody uses it. Though some more "mediocre" damage weapons with a unique mod like (new) Soul Taker would be okay, uniques just shouldn't be BiS for weapons.
