Your League ideas
Killing Fields.
Health drops constantly and the only way to regain health is by attacking something. Damage is doubled on PvP. Small Packages. Low level monsters are spawn infront of the town with high drop rates. Once these monsters are killed bosses will spawn beyond. The only difference with bosses is they only drop health and mana potions. If you want new equipment ask the person next to you gingerly. Greed. Get as much gold as possible. Load up on gold inducing equipment. Every "section" of a map will spawn a golden monster that drops gold. Either you kill it for a fast money or let it live to rake it. The more people slain in the map the more money the golden monster drops. Fallout Vision is reduced to close quarters. All gems give out max potentials. Will you choose special effects to locate monsters or will you pick damage up close? |

" It got me thinking would it work if time-limited characters exist in a same league as normal ones? Both types would populate the same game world, but would not be able to do anything other than see each other and chat - in town only. Less "ghost town look" than if there are 2 separate parent leagues, that's it. "I am The Banisher, the ill will that snuffs the final candle." - Seal of Doom (MTG)

Off the top of my head, I don't see why that wouldn't be possible. Although there would need to be a way to distinguish those characters. As a normal character, you wouldn't want to be adventuring with someone and then they need to leave all of sudden because they're time limited. You could be stranded in bad situations.

Character name could be in different color. Or add some specific tag. Again, no interaction with normal characters other than chat in town - this is neccessary to keep economies separate, prevent powerleveling and many more issues.

Someone brought up the death penalty structure of GuildWars in the Developer Discussion thread. I think it would be cool to implement something like that (at the very least) for temporary leagues.
For example, there is a checkpoint before every instance and you get a certain number of lives at the beginning of every instance. Lets say you get one life, if you're in a party, you get +1 for every person in the party, and the party shares the lives. Once you have no lives, you get sent back to the checkpoint before the instance (retaining all exp and items you got), but the instance is deleted, so you have to start from scratch. Edit: I suppose a solo person should get the same number of lives as a party. Maybe you get two lives no matter if you're solo or how many people or in your party. I am a poor freezingly cold soul
So far from where I intended to go |

Ticket systems could be good for team PvP.

You should fun leagues.
Some set of rules that make the game funny and break the dark fantasy feel. Ideas: Big Head - Everything has a big head. BDay Party - Enemies explode into confetti and cheering. Insanity is overrated unless you join me in mine.

I've always prefered hardcore mode. Would love to see it implemented in PoE.

Ok guys sorry about the long post but i thought it would be best to move my idea here to get more eyes on it.
(Original post)Say you find a really awesome item for a marauder but you are playing as a witch and you don't want to trade the item or aynthing. Will it be possible to create your own league with a custom set of rules(marauder only etc), set this item up as the winner takes all reward and charge other players to enter the league, be it in game currency, an item worth X amount or real money. I think this adds to the cut throat feel of the game while also adding a certain rush (gambling)(end) (Posted by tpapp157) This sounds like it would be difficult to balance and moderate but it's an interesting idea.(end) (Posted by Rhesos)I think that this would be possible... The developers already said that there will be a option to create leagues (for money) with your own ruleset. And for your league you need only 3-4 options: - Who can play in this league? => There should be an option to take the hero(es), maybe the starting level and the location e.g. - How long will the league last? - What will the winner receive - What are the winning conditions I think that all this options seems very plausible to be in the game... And i think that the league creator will have a option to make the league free for all or set a pw or something like that... With the pw you can charge other players if they wanna have the pw... Don't think that there will be an option for that and i don't think that the developers allow to charge money from other players, but we will see ;)(end) (Posted by me) The devs could also take a cut if real money is included as an option :) I think it could work. I picture it more with items or in game currency as a "buy in" but real money could work also. It would help stop third party sites appearing.(end) RIP Bolto
