RF needs buffed if they fix "snapshot"

calculated my dps on RF to be 25k without snapshot... should not be a problem to play with that. then add curses and EE to it and its way more. Gear cost me around 6exa.

Impossible, DoT can't also be a spell, those are two of the four main damage categories.

With your gear currently (lacking str and percent fire) I am not able to reach the numbers you've quoted. Assumed you were at level 90 and at least 300% life btw.

Not possible as an AOE effect but... What about changing it so it releases a heat wave every few seconds that ignites enemies but deals no damage? wow, that sounds so cool. I'm going to make a post in the suggestions forum :)

I calculated it with build+gear i will have at lvl 86.

Life 6228 calculated with poe builder so might be a bit higher.
ES 356 calculated with poe builder so items are all without quality.


90% elemental damage with divine on my doryani catalyst this might get up to 110%
119% burn damage
32% area damage
27% damage over time

conc effect 69% more dmg

6228/2 = 3114
356/2 = 178

3114+178 = 3292

1(base dmg)+0,9(elemental damage)+1,19(burning damage)+0,32(area damage)+0,27(damage over time) = 3,68

3292*3,68*1,69 = 20473,6dps

you were right i calculated it wrong in some point earlier.


At level 90 i would get 24,4k dps.

I currently play RF low life ES char and I have 6 % armor / 6 % chance to evade and I don't die in 78 maps...

Im at 87 on my RF build i snapshot 2 red beaks + carcass and i still feel weak and or can die easy even to some low 70 map mobs (mobs on the way to dom almost can kill me if i don't use pots more then i think i need to)

I have 91/78/78 res i think 7k hp and like 10k armor

I think RF could work without snapshotting as i use to do that but it just doesn't seem worth using the skill if that's how its going to be

I don't think anyone ever uses or would use RF as a caster if you could only keep it on for all of the at max 10 seconds before you die that just seems badly made

The fact that you have to have a shield made for this the right nodes on the tree and be right on top of packs of monsters with 0 life leech from RF when any melee char could do the same with leech and most likely faster/less risk of death


Adding on to that have you ever been in a party with non or even snapshotted RF? its not fun and the time i was in parties the ST/some other melee build i don't know was out damaging me by miles
RF just does not do much in parties

I don't think i tried non snapshot RF in a party but snapshotting was so bad that it makes me not want to party at all on this build because i feel useless and have to be right on up of the monsters when others could be ranged or what not anyways

I currently run a level 75 scion RF'er (Currently using rest of gear on another chara atm)

I found that without snapshotting

( and a life chest that gave me about 700-1k more hp)

I noted a small difference, not enough to cause me to die, as long as I double cursed and used EE+Elemental Proliferation+Ice Nova to trigger huge amounts of damage, my damage still was absurdly high, I clear trash mobs fast, and blue and rare mobs efficently, bosses are simple you just keep cursing and EE'ING. I managed to run up to 73s (73s being not very safe, while 70-72 keeping me on my toes)on a level 75.

do I think RF will still be efficient without snapshotting? most certainly, instead of just running into packs with one hand on the mouse and the other one eating cereal and watching tv, you'll be at least EE'ING the pack.

I used cyclone with RF, it serves multiple purposes:
- keeps me on the move
- makes me almost immune to stun
- keeps me alive with life on hit
- applies EE around me with some lightning damage on one ring
- reliably blinds enemies providing incredible survivability boost
